Adiyiah Not Afraid Of Theo Walcott & Co.

FORMER Heart of Lions striker, Dominic Adiyiah, who now plies his trade with Norwegian Premier League side, Fredrikstad FK, is hopeful of repeating his remarkable performance that saw Ghana's Black Satellites win the 2009 African Youth Championship in Rwanda. Adiyiah is hoping to repeat the dose when he joins his colleagues for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup slated for Egypt in September. The talented speedster has been in great form of late and was on target in Fredrikstad's 2-1 away win against Lech Poznan in the Europa third round qualifier even though they bowed out of the competition on a 7-3 aggregate. Adiyiah was also the hero on the day when the Black Satellites won 2-1 against their Bulgarian counterparts in an international friendly in Sofia recently.

Speaking to 90 MINUTES newspaper, the former Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy star said: “We are prepared physically and mentally for the tournament in Egypt next month. Football nowadays is not about big names so we hope do our best and go far in the competition,” he continued. “Looking at our group, I think England poses the big threat but we must also be wary of the likes of Uruguay and Uzbekistan who can pull up a surprise. England have the likes of Arsenal's Theo Walcott and other very good players who play in the Premiership, but for me big names does not play football anymore since it will be the same number of players on each side. We are braced for anything and we are hopeful of rising to the occasion when the time comes.” The Black Satellites are in Group D with the England, Uruguay and Uzbekistan.
