Adidas-Salomon Fail To Show-Up For Sponsorship Talks

German kit giants, Adidas-Salomon failed to submit their proposal to the Ghana Football Association’s management team for perusal and consideration.According to a source, Adidas’ competitors, EL-Sporto of the United States had earlier on presented their proposal but the FA instructed them to take it back and make some corrections.

El-Sporto are said to have asked the FA to study their proposal and make the necessary demands, which they were ready to accept. The FA are said to be still revising the document and it is likely, Ghana could be going El-Sporto.

El-Sporto now seem to be awaiting the FA to seal a deal which would see an FA member going over to the a United States to sign the contract with the principals of El-Sporto.

The possible signing of an agreement between the FA and El-Sporto has delayed a bit due to the unavailability of the principals of the US-based manufacturers who are currently in China.

The FA is yet to decide on Ghana’s next kit sponsor after the Memorandum of understanding reached with Adidas to provide Ghana with kits during the CAN 2002 ended immediately after the tournament with lots of controversies.

The EL-Sporto deal now appears the most likely considering the offer put on the table by the U.S based company. Though, Adidas has the pedigree over EL-Sporto in terms of apparel sponsorship, the U.S-based kit suppliers have now dispelled rumours that the company was not in existence. After sponsoring Uruguay in the just ended World Cup co-hosted by Japan/Korea, El-Sporto has now gained credibility putting the company in serious contention to snap the deal from Adidas.

FA Chairman, Ben Koufie and his team are studying the EL-Sporto deal and were expected to communicate with El-Sporto after yesterday’s (Thursday’s) meeting. It now appears that Ghana has gone EL-Sporto due to the lack of enthusiasm shown by Adidas in the deal.
