Adams stays put at Aduana

Ghana goalkeeper, Stephen Adams, is staying put at local side Aduana Stars, at least, until the January transfer window.

Former Sudan Premier League Champions, Al Hilal, will begin their pre-season camp in the UAE on December 18 without the shot stopper after failing to land his services before the November 30 transfer deadline.

The Blue Waves had prepared to land a goalkeeper for a fee of $100,000 with the 27-year-old their number one target.

However, supersport.com has learnt that a collision of two agents close to the Hilal’s board contributed to the club’s missing out on Adams. These agents at separate times about three months ago contacted the 2009 Ghanaian Champions Aduana Stars about getting him to the Omdurman-based club.

“About close to three months ago, Al Hilal expressed interest [in Stephen Adams] but when we began the discussions, two agents came to fore,” Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Albert Commey told supersport.com.

“The fee involved in the offer presented by the first agent wasn’t satisfactory. Later another one came claiming to be able to pull strings from the board for a higher fee. In all these, we stood our grounds demanding what we deemed the right price for the player but they couldn’t come back again,” he added.

Adams was the only local player in Ghana’s 2014 World Cup squad. He kept the post three times during the Afcon qualifying games.

Hilal signed 22-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Maxime Loïc Feudjou from Coton Sport four days to transfer deadline day after giving up on the Ghana international.
