Acheampong eyeing Ghana’s World Cup slot

Belgium-based Frank Opoku Acheampong has set his sight on a place among coach Kwesi Appiah's charges for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The R.S.C. Anderlect player said he thirst for a bigger impact with the Black Stars following his exploits with the Black Satellites at the last World Cup earlier in the year.

Acheampong told GNA Sports “I have had two call ups and am waiting for the third one. I have been working hard at the club level to catch the eyes of the technical team.

“It is my firm belief the technical team would give me another opportunity to justify my inclusion in the team for the World Cup".

He said "Ghana stands a chance of improving upon her previous outing, having gathered the needed temperament and experience for such high profile events.

“We have been there on two occasions and each time we did so well. I have no doubt that Ghana will go beyond the quarter finals in 2014 taking into consideration the caliber of players we have in our team." Ghana remain Africa's best performer in the last two editions of the World Cup.
