Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe is in talks with giants Accra Hearts of Oak over a possible move to the Oak family, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The former Ghana Premier League goal king is said to have been in talks with the Accra club but the progress of the interaction has been intensified after the Phobians poor show at the ongoing G6 tournament.

Bekoe who is currently unattached returned from Lebanon a few weeks ago after talks with Al Nabi fell through over contractual agreement.

A grapevine sources close to the management of the former African champions disclosed that the head coach of the side, Kenichi Yatsuhashi has not been impressed with the team’s attack and has called for the signature of a potent striker.

The source added that Bekoe is a tried and tested player who they think will be able to fit in well for the coach as he keeps asking for a lead attacker in his team.

The Phobians have scored only three goals in six matches, conceding eleven in the process under Japanese trainer and the perfect striker to end their goal scoring woes seem to be the former Petrojet striker.

Bekoe left Ghana in 2009 after winning the goal king in the 2007/08 season with 17 goals out of 23 matches with Kumasi Asante Kotoko to join Egyptian side Petrojet where he had an explosive season.

The goal-poacher returned to Ghana and signed for Berekum Chelsea in 2012, playing 12 matches and scoring 4 goals in the process after the Egyptian side changed owbership.

If the Phobians succeed in signing Bekoe, it will be the first time the club has signed a potent striker after the departure of Mahatma Otoo.
