Accra Celtic FC pip Maamobi FC Midtjylland

Enterprising Accra Celtic Football Club on Friday recorded another victory to underline their status as one of the most in-form teams in the Greater Accra region.

The 2nd division outfit, who have just completed their league season, beat Maamobi Midtjylland 1 – 0 in a friendly encounter played at the Atomic Park in Accra in the latest of their off season campaigns.

The win comes at an opportune time as they round off preparations on the local scene before they head to South Africa and Jordan to engage in more testing assignments before the start of next season.

Winning a place in the national first division league is the main target for the team next season, and the management of the club determined to ensure that that dream is fulfilled.

Club President, Thomas A. Yeboah said this is reason why they have decided to start preparations early and believes this would put the boys in good shape to face the competition next season.

Friday’s game was played at a very high pace with Coach Henry Quansah directing affairs from the beach as he seeks to put a strong team together for the next campaign.

Accra Celtic just missed out on a place in the Greater Accra zonal middle league by a whisker after finishing third in Zone Six but Mr. Yeboah expressed satisfaction with their performance “if you consider some difficult moments we encountered”.

He added, “We hope to do well next season and have targeted a place in the second tier of Ghana football”. “It is our aim to modernize football management in Ghana and you will see great signs next year’, he stated.

The team plans to play a couple more friendly games next week before embarking on their pre-season tour of South Africa and Jordan later this month.
