Accam fit to face DC United

Chicago Fire manager Frank Wallop says Ghana international David Accam is available for selection when his side lock horns with DC United at the RFK Memorial Stadium in Washington on Wednesday.

Accam limped off with a hamstring injury last weekend as his side walloped Montreal Impact 3-0, but his coach believes the 24-year-old is fit for use once more after undergoing full scale training on Monday.

“Accam did train on Monday morning and appears to be ready for DC if called upon. He looks good and in fine shape for the game,” Yallop told Fire's website.

“That was my worry coming out of this game with some issues. I think bringing him (David) out in the 66th minute against Montreal Impact helped. I think the game was sort of ours to win. It wasn’t a close game in that front so I felt it was comfortable to bring him out at that point.

“I thought it was the right move and that may help him be available for Wednesday. We had a good chat and he’s ready to go. I’II decide what happens and go from there,” he said.

Accam has been included in Ghana squad to face Mauritius in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier holding in Accra on June 14.

Accam signed for Chicago Fire in December, 2014 from Norwegian side Helsingborg IF and has netted two goals in seven matches.
