Abedi Pele Receives Commonwealth Award

Ghanaian football superstar, Abedi Ayew Pele has received the Commonwealth Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to sports and football in the British Commonwealth. The award is the most coveted in the Commonwealth Sports Awards ceremony held every two years.

Previous lifetime achievement award winners are Frank Bruno who was British and WBC featherweight champion and reigning heavyweight champion of the World, Lenox Lewis. Abedi Ayew Pele’s award cited his profound contribution to football and a glittering career during which he collected three African Footballer of the Year Awards. Mr. Geddy Laryea, a media executive received Pele’s award on his behalf.
