Abedi Pele: Nania Fa Cup Elimination Blessing In Disguise

Abedi Pele believes the early elimination of Nania FC from the FA Cup competition will hand his side the needed boost in their upcoming assignments.

The second-tier side won the FA Cup last July but were shocked at home by Great Olympics last month during the preliminary round ties.

Nania FC’s inability to defend the trophy has raised questions about their credibility ahead of playing in Africa this year.

But Abedi Pele, who doubles as head coach of the club, has played down the result.

“We lost to a great club like Olympics and therefore there is no shame in that,” he told MTNFootball.com.

“Though disappointed we did not make it through, I believe the elimination could be good for us.

”We have a long season ahead filled with several competitions and there is that much games the players can take.

”The players will now have fewer games to play which means more time for recovery which will help us so I guess it is good that we are out of the FA Cup.”

Nania FC will represent Ghana in this year’s Caf Confederation Cup and will open their campaign against Guinean side FC Sequence.
