ATHENS'04: Olympic Team Arrive In Athens

Ghana?s 11-man athletics contingent to the Olympic Games left Germany Tuesday enroute to Athens for the official start of the games on Thursday.

The athletics team together with the 22 members of the football team brings Ghana?s total Olympic squad size to 33.

The Black Meteors who are arguably the nation?s brightest medal prospects arrived in Athens Monday ahead of Thursday?s kick off to the football competition.

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Kwadwo Baah Wiredu is in Athens and is expected to meet the team at their base in Volos before the start of the competition.

He would be announcing to the Ghanaian Olympic team the financial package due them for the two-week competition.
