ASEC part ways with Ghanaian duo

Accra, Dec. 16, GNA - Ivorian champions, ASEC Mimosas FC have released the Ghanaian duo of Mohammed Sekyere and Yaw Frimpong following the expiration of their contracts.

The duo, both products of the Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy returned to the latter after aiding the Abidjan-based Club to the 24th Ivorian league title during the 2010 season.

Sebastien Desabre, head coach of ASEC Mimosas confirmed to GNA Sports on Thursday as the 1998 Africa champions are currently holding a pre-season training camp at Gomoa Fetteh.

The Frenchman who joined ASEC barely a month ago, said the two players had contributed their quota to the Club and were seeking fresh challenges after two successful seasons.

The departure of the duo leaves ASEC with no Ghanaian-born player on their roster.

Meanwhile, Frimpong has joined Kumasi Asante Kotoko whilst Sekyere has been linked with a Serbian club.

The Ivorian champions wrap up their two-week training tour with a friendly against Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy on Saturday at Gomoa Fetteh. Last Wednesday, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman, Accra.
