ACRO Ghana donate footballs to Senior Correctional Institute

Accra, Oct. 22, GNA - A Non-Governmental Organization,

Association for Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders, (ACRO)

Ghana on Friday donated 20 footballs to the Senior Correctional

Institute (Borstal Institute) as part of their social responsibility. The adidas-branded footballs worth about 2000 Ghana cedis are

to promote sporting activities at the Institute, which provides non-

formal education for juvenile offenders.

Kwabena Owusu Ansah, Sports Manager of ACRO Ghana said

the gesture was motivated by their desire to enhance and promote

football at the Institute.

He said it is expected that the footballs will largely aid to

discover more talented footballers who will take up the game

professionally after their exit from the Institute.

Ben Doku, National Coordinator of ACRO also advised the

students Institute to stay off bad and anti-social habits and adopt

exemplary attitudes upon their release. He pledged future support to the Institute in other areas to aid its

sustenance. Al-Hassan K. Legibo, Deputy Director of the Ghana Prisons

Service and Regional Commander, who received the football on

behalf on the Institute, commended the Executives of ACRO Ghana

for their kind gesture and promised that the footballs will be put to

good use. He also appealed to other organizations and individuals to

emulate the gesture to assist in the general upkeep of the students of

the Institute.
