30 participants attend coaching course in Cape Coast

Cape Coast, July 22, GNA - Soccer coaches have been advised to take advantage of the Ghana Football Association's four year business and football development plan to upgrade their capacity to develop the sport to international levels.

Mr Oti Akenten, CAF Education and Development Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) gave the advice at Cape Coast at the closing session of a six-day basic coaching course organized by the Association for 30 participants drawn from the Greater Accra, Eastern and Central Regions.

He announced that the Association will soon enforce the directives of Confederation of African Football (CAF) to use only licensed coaches to handle the national teams and league clubs.

Coach Akenten therefore stressed the need for coaches to participate in courses organized by Association and other international bodies to sharpen and upgrade their skills to enable them qualify for the licenses.

Mr Matthew Doe, Chairman of the Central Region Football Association appealed to the participants to take practice of coaching serious to be able to impart the knowledge they had acquired at the course to their clubs and the youth.

He commended the enactment of the Business and Development Plan of the GFA and urged the Association to continue with it since it would go a long way in finding solutions to the numerous challenges confronting the country's football.

Mr Doe also appealed to corporate bodies in the country to come to support the GFA financially in promoting the development plan to move the sport forward.

The participants discussed the theory of coaching methods, practical coaching, theory laws of the game and practical performance.
