The Christian faith is not only interspersed with different denominations, sects and branches, it has been dangerously atomized into denominational heterodoxy, a deviation from the gauge of the pure biblical normatives of life as it is in the Word of God, Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
"To the law and to the testimony (Scriptures): if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light (truth) in them." Isaiah 8:20.
Again we learn in John 5:39, "Search the Scriptures: for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."
The true state of the Christian church today reflects it's departure from "thus saith the Lord". Many a church have lost the God appointed purpose of the church. Is it any wonder that many play church by Charistmaticism, prophesying, working "miracles", and selling holy water? Aren't some of us called New Testament Christians? Are there
any possible external pressures causing the divergent belief systems? Certainly, yes. And that's no novel cause. Man's adversary, Satan, is behind it. He wants to keep the world in Babylon-- confused churches of Christendom. Isn't the adversary the one who says, "... l will be like the Most High?" -- no moral laws and no sin? (Isaiah 14:14)
Doesn't Revelation 13:8 tell us "...all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose name are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the earth"?
Won't he deceive the whole world? (Revelation 12:9).
You see, the adversary's major anger is on the Word Of God which reveals God and his character as seen in Christ and His Church. Now you can see why we have many bible translations and different belief systems and different denominations. Question: is there any hope for the Babylonian churches?
Yes. It is the moral image of God which Adam lost in Eden. Adam could not pass the moral image to his descendants because he no longer had it. God's answer to Adam's dilemma was the revelation of His image in Christ--Christlikeness as an unmerited favor (grace) of the new covenant.
"A new heart also will l give you , and a new spirit will l put within you: and l will take away this stony heart of your flesh, and l will give you an heart of flesh. And l will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." Ezekiel 36:26-27.
God will write his law in our hearts (lsaiah 51:7)as a moral guide and cause us to obey it. So amidst the ever- growing jungle of denominations and divergent belief systems, we see that God has a people: "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments (all of God's commandments including the7th day Sabbath) of God, and the faith of Jesus." Revelation 14:12
