By the way, the etymology of the 'otumfour' originated from the Akan cultural miles at the time that probably the English had not attained nationhood, let alone having had any contact with Ashantis. Therefore, the the word 'otumfour' was not a derivetive of the English word'almighy"
The two words are contextually and etymological different from each other: they are not in competition, not not necessarily synonymous to each other. The title originally conceptualised meant 'the able one' and ' The Almighty God'. Therefore, Otumfour is not in contest with The Almighty God in any way. The prophet's argument is an over-simplification of the issue and must discredited. The Ashantis are blasphemous in using the title Otumfour. Don't mind him!

Scripture teaches us that one cannot serve two masters. The golden stool is the mother of all jujus and it is said to embody the soul of the Asante nation as a whole. One should remember how as late as the 20th century Kumasi, the Asante capital, was still dubbed the "City of Blood" because of the barbarous human sacrifice that was practised there. Indeed, even when the British colonial government abolished the practice, the Asante royals resisted and continued to practice it. This was one of the charges the British made against Prempe I and thus exiled him and some of his royal family members, including his mother, in 1896.
That Apostle Nkansah-Sarkodie has raised this important issue sets him apart as a minister of conscience and he must be highly commended for that. I hope the Asantes will all listen to this man of God. Of course, I'm aware that some of the Asantes, even including the highly educated ones, are going to come in their numbers to sing their beloved national anthem, which they know best: aboa!, kwashia!, fool!" without reasoning wisely to see if there's anything good in what the Apostle is saying. But they're at liberty to do so. But who cares?

The title otumfou was applied to God as dynamic equivalent of Almighty God. The title then in application to Asantehene has a different scope and limitation and Asantefou do not dispute that. No Asantehene has ever declared himself God or equivalent to God.
The call to Asantehene to drop the title otumfou because of its application to God is theologically unwarranted.The title Lord is use for Judges yet same is applied to God/ Jesus.
