It is expedient that one comes to know Christ, and speak of him in a manner as written in the Bible. Anything short of that is tantamount to dishonoring him.
Jesus says that, men ought to honour him, even as they honour God, and who soever does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent the Son.
In other words one cannot talk about the true God, the Father, without talking about the Son, Jesus Christ.
The status of Christ surpasses those of the Prophets of old. Infact, all the Jewish Prophets actually wrote, by inspiration of the Holy Ghost, about him. Indeed what inspires prophesying is to the bearing witness to Christ Jesus. In other words, if there be any prophesy at anytime then it was because, the Prophets were provoked to bear witness to Christ through the orchestration of the Holy Spirit. Moses, the Psalmist and the other Prophets all wrote about Christ.
The patriarch, Abraham (long before Moses was born), had the privilege on seeing, with an eye of Faith, the day of the Lord, according to the promise God gave him on mountain mooriah, where his Faith was tested.
Christ himself made reference to that saying, "your Father Abraham rejoiced on seeing my day". When Abraham answered to Isaac, saying God will provide, he was speaking prophetically of the lamb of God(Christ) which God himself will provide in future. This is an example of a Prophecy, which is bearing witness to Christ.
The word "day," here, is used to denote the time, the appearance, the advent, and the manner of life of the Messiah. Luke 17:26; "as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man." See John 9:4; Matthew 11:12. The day of judgment is also called the day of the Son of man, because it will be a remarkable time of his manifestation. Or perhaps in both those cases it is called his day because he will act the most conspicuous part; his person and work will characterize the times; as we speak of the days of Noah, etc., because he was the most conspicuous person of the age.
He saw it - See Hebrews 11:13; "These all died in faith, not having received (obtained the fulfillment of) the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them," etc. Though Abraham was not permitted to live to see the times of the Messiah, yet he was permitted to have a prophetic view of him, and also of the design of his coming; for,
1. God foretold his advent clearly to him, Genesis 12:3; Genesis 18:18. Compare Galatians 3:16; "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, and to thy seed, which is Christ."
2. Abraham was permitted to have a view of the death of the Messiah as a sacrifice for sin, represented by the command to offer Isaac, Genesis 22:1-13. Compare Hebrews 11:19. The death of the Messiah as a sacrifice for the sins of men was that which characterized his work - which distinguished his times and his advent, and this was represented to Abraham clearly by the command to offer his son. From this arose the proverb among the Jews Genesis 22:14, "In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen," or it shall be provided for; a proverb evidently referring to the offering of the Messiah on the mount for the sins of men, the very stretch of mountain that the Faith of Abraham was tested. By this event Abraham was impressively told that a parent would not be required to offer in sacrifice his sons for the sins of his soul - a thing which has often been done by pagan, and which God had and has never desired; but that God would provide a victim, and in due time an offering would be made for the world.
Abraham was glad in view of the promise, and that he was permitted so distinctly to see it represented. If the Father of the faithful rejoiced so much to see him afar off, how should we rejoice that he has come; that we are not required to look into a distant futurity, but know that he has appeared; that we may learn clearly the manner of his coming, his doctrine, and the design of his death! Well might the eyes of a patriarch rejoice to be permitted to look in any manner on the sublime and glorious scene of the Son of God dying for the sins of men. And our chief honor and happiness is to contemplate the amazing scene of man's redemption, where the Saviour groaned and died to save a lost and ruined race.
Now concerning the person of Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God, and shared in the creation of the Universe. He is the WORD of God who became flesh. Not a single thing was created without him. He had his glory alongside the Father before the world. And the Father has glorified him alongside with him again, after his sacrificial role to atone for the sins of the world.
Everything that belongs to the Father belongs to the Son. And it is the pleasure of the Father that the Son takes preeminence in all things, for the Father has so desired that He glories himself in the Son. The Life that God has given us, cannot be found in anywhere else. It can ONLY be found in the Son. The scriptures says whoever has the Son has Life. The promise of Life can only be found in the Son. Jesus says no one can come to him except the Father draws that person to him(Jesus Christ). What it means is that a person who so desires, in all humility to know God, God will allow himself to be known by that person, by the power and unction of the Holy Ghost. God, by the power of the Holy Ghost draws that person to Christ. It is the power of the salvation knowledge of God in Christ, received in the heart of the individual that accords him a right standing before God, and through the confession with his lips about this belief that assures or guarantees the road map to his Salvation.
When a person receives Christ, He becomes a child of God. We all not children of God, but we are all his creation. A child of God is the one who has believed in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, for who he is as it is written in the Scriptures(Bible). More importantly, the person must acknowledge that the blood of Jesus atoned for his sins, and that by the power of the Holy Ghost, he can have a solid relationship with Father through studying the WORD, Fellowship, prayers and observing what Christ has commanded in the WORD, for which baptism (by immersion) is one of such command, baptizing in the NAME of the the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
All the prophets who submitted to God wrote or spoke forth about the Messiah, and all the accounts are in perfect harmony. Christ himself has come and bore witness to the Truth.
And in the 1st century we were warned to be cautious of the presentation of a Jesus different from the one we have received.
I encourage everyone to be serious in acquiring knowledge of the WORD, for it should be the UTMOST concern for you as an individual.
