Light is important for us to see. No light and we are in the dark about a subject.
"Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness." Luke 11:35
Let's throw a 21st century light of the internet service on past researches on Qur'anic Commentary & Analysis through the Lens of Modern Science [12].
"We placed him as sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; Then We made the sperm into a clot of blood; then of that blood clot We made a lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be God, the best to create!" (Quran 23:13-14)
Indeed, at first glance, this seems like a remarkable statement for a "7th century desert Arab" to make. However, upon closer study, one realizes that there is both explanation and error to this verse. First we must ask if this was an original theory, and second we must ask if it is correct.
Many people are amazed by the mention of sperm in this verse. This is nothing special. Since the beginning of time man has been aware of the "seed" that is released from the penis during sexual intercourse. The Bible, a text much older than the Qur'an, tells a story of a man who was struck down by God for "spilling his seed on the ground" (Genesis 38:9-10).
The entire study of human life as mentioned in the Qur'an is not original at all. While Muslims try to claim that Muhammad made these statements before scientists discovered them, they are wrong. Theories of the formation of a child inside the womb was put forth by Aristotle nearly 1,000 years before the Qur'an was written. In fact Aristotle correctly described the function of the umbilical cord, something not mentioned in the Qur'an, showing that earlier philosophers were aware of such things mentioned by Muhammad and more. Every mention of human development in the Qur'an is similar to Roman and Greek theories. Consider the following verse referring to sperm:
He is created from a drop (of sperm) emitted-- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs. (Qur'an 86:6-7)
Clearly this verse is incorrect, and clearly it has origins in earlier theories. First of all, for sperm to originate between the back and the ribs would mean that it comes from the kidneys! We now know that semen is produced in the testicles, but people in Muhammad's time did not know this. Eleven centuries before Muhammad, the Greek physician Hippocrates theorized that sperm passed through the kidneys into the penis. For centuries this was an accepted (and incorrect) belief of the origins of sperm.
There are those who claim Muhammad had no contact with Greeks or Romans. Pre-Islamic Arabia definitely had contact with Byzantium, Syria, Egypt, Persia, and Babylon. There were many Jews and Christians living in the area, and they were familiar with Greek or Roman philosophy. The Christians were connected to Rome. The Jews were connected to Babylon and Persia. It is easy to see how such theories regarding embryonic development may have reached Muhammad.
Finally, to touch back on the verses that spoke of the development of an unborn child, I will say they too are incorrect. The Qur'an stated that the blood clot was turned to bone and then God "clothed the bones with flesh" (Quran 23:13-14). It is scientific fact that living tissue forms first, and then bones grow at a later time, and continue to gain strength (by building calcium) for many years after birth. Therefore, this is one of many scientific inaccuracies in the Qur'an.

Question: What is it about women and dogs which will prevent a Muslim man's prayer from reaching the ears of Allah in heaven? Sonic or shadowy interruption, maybe!

Exaggerating those shot shot verses given by Quran shows how dishonest you can be even as a deeply rooted moslem. The quran says the skins of the inhabitants of hell will be renewed it (quran) did not state layers of skin. In the Good book of the Gospel according to Mark, JESUS said, No MARRIAGE in heaven as some people came to ask him about 7 brothers who took tends to marry the same woman who never gave birth with any of them. Whose wife was it on the day of judgement? The answer was clear. What do we see in your Quran? That the inhabitants of heaven will be wedded to women who are virgins to add more evil to that, that those who can die fighting in the way of Allah will be wedded to 77 ( am not sure of the figure)virgins. You know what? I believe JESUS because he never hated any one and also prayed for the forgiveness of those who crucified him. Now my question is that if you dont know how Heaven will look like how will you know how hell will be. Stop misleading people with the moslem religion because i cannot see any good in a moslem except holding those opinions of the Quran. The world will have been a better place without it.

Please, learn to know that the language of God to men are cocooned in dense figurative expressions.
Examples: Moses fasted for forty days and forty nights did not mean the guy was without food for the period aforesaid. It means he fasted for a long period of time.
On the other hand, when you read three days and three nights in the new testament, it does not mean exactly three days and three nights. It means a very short number of days.
When you read a land where milk and honey flows, it does not mean milk and honey will be moving along like a river. It means a life of pleasantness, peace and prosperity.
In the same vein, saying that a Muslim will be wedded to 77 virgins does not mean a man will be copulating with 77 women.
Please, read and free your mind from the abuse of suffocating ignorance and from the tentacles of blind prejudice

Adjaloo, the issue New Convert is raising is this: Jesus says there will be no marriage in heaven whereas the Koran says martyrs will be able to marry 72 virgins. Obviously, both statements cannot be right. You are free to post a comment explaining why the martyrs will be able to marry 72 virgins in the Islamic paradise.

"On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him, saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.' Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother. In like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh. After them all, the woman died. In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her." But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God's angels in heaven." Matthew 22:23-30.
Abu Umama narrated: "The Messenger of God said, 'Everyone that God admits into paradise will be married to 72 wives; two of them are houris and seventy of his inheritance of the [female] dwellers of hell. All of them will have libidinous sex organs and he will have an ever-erect penis.' "
Sunan Ibn Majah, Zuhd (Book of Abstinence) 39
It was mentioned by Daraj Ibn Abi Hatim, that Abu al-Haytham 'Adullah Ibn Wahb narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudhri, who heard the Prophet Muhammad PBUH saying, 'The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy-two houri, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine and ruby, as wide as the distance from al-Jabiyyah to San'a.

You have answered your own question.
The story of 72 virgins or 77 virgins (depends on whoever is quoting or misquoting the Quran)has been misinterpreted not only by Christians but by some Muslims too.
To begin with, being in heaven wouldn't involve corporal activities as pertains here on earth.
For you folks who don't understand the Quran, I will say for the last time. God/Allah/Elloi uses the language of humanity to paint a blissful picture as possible for his worshippers as to what they would expect after all their suffering.
To those whose inner joy lie with wine and drinks, he paints the picture of flowing wine to them; to those who enjoy silver and gold, he paints the picture of reward in riches; to those who enjoy the company of women, he impresses on their mind the abundance of women (your 72 or 77 virgins); to those who enjoy the sweet things he paints the picture of milk and honey.
Thus over and over and over again God uses the language of men to teach men.
I will ask you critics out there whether you can teach a toddler anything in calculus or reveal the cadence in Shakespearean writing and literature to that toddler ?
The obvious answer is no! Why because to that toddler, you are spouting gibberish--she or cannot comprehend !
When talking to a toddler, you mention papa, mama, dada, bra or come, ko or go etc. You dwell on the language the infant understands before moving on to more complex vocabulary. Who will understand God if he decides to tell us exactly what pertains in heaven when we have no idea what is over there? None!
Thus God portrays what he has prepared for his worshippers in a language as is understood by them. Hence Jesus was right when he said they will neither marry nor given to marriage.
Heaven will not be about the mundane activities as we have here (Having sex, taking a shit, urinating, stressing out, paying taxes etc). So please read the scriptures very well before you start blaming God or the Quran or anybody.
Remember, God speaks to you in the language you understand. That is the perfect way to communicate his intentions to mankind

Adjaloo, do not confuse the message and interpretation of the Bible with the Koran. The two are as different as the day is from the night. The Koran has only one witness and apostle, Mohammed, who was born in 570 AD. He claimed his "God" is called Allah who has no Son. All koranic message and interpretation was based on his (Mohammed's) word. His religion was based on works and the reward of paradise. In contrast, the Bible was in existence long before even Mohammed was born. Christianity claims "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him." John 3:16-17. He is the Word of God and God's Covenant with man (Isaiah 42:6).
"In him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1:4. The prize of heaven is Christ-- wherever he is there is peace and joy.
