By admitting that you have transgressed the values and principles of the ramadan since it left you last year, you are indirectly admitting that religious rituals in islam and other religions as well are useless and do not gaurantee salvation.
It is in this light that our faith is based on what God Himself did for us on the cross. We admit we can't save ourselves by obeying God's laws and rituals. We do our best and God who knows the heart of every man cleanses those who sincerely desired righteousness with His blood so that we can be holy enough to inherit His kingdom.
