I know what I get from tithing so I am not bothered paying more than 10 per cent to the church to advance the work of God. Remember that it is not to the pastor but to the church and it is well accounted for.

Thank God for people like Amartey for coming out boldly..Who says, it is otabil, Duncan Williams and those self-styled and so-called men of God who are into it...the church of Pentecost and the Assembly of God are all guilty, they have stashed to themselves the poor peoples money. I know of a church where the members are very poor but to tithing, they bought a brand new SUV for their pastor whereas many of those people were finding it difficult to have 2 meals a day. God save us. It is damned silly to attend a one man/woman's church where tithing is taught. They are religious vampires who are sucking the blood of innocent and unlearned members of people whose only crime is to worship the God who has since abandoned tithing but has instituted the New Testament Christianity. I am a preacher who would have enjoyed tithing to some degree to amass wealth, but let me tell you...it is extortion of the highest order to take tithe today.

I read about tithes not only in Malachi but in Deut and Laviticus. I combed the bible and read everything on tithes. My pastor's view was that tithes was biblical. But I wanted to find out myself. I read every verse in the bible on tithes.
I know the truth now. I mean the truth from the bible, not the truth fom my pastor. The bible is clear on tithes. Bro Amartey is right.
Dont be lazy. Read the bible yourself with a huble spirit and learn and find the truth. Let the Holy Spirit lead you. Read the bible, read beyond Malachi. You will find out that pastors are robbing you.

He is also mindful of what we believe and what has motivated us to give. If a pastor tells you that giving is of God, he is doing well. But if he takes 10% of your total monthly income in the name of thithing, he is damn robbing you man! There is giving in every religion and and a way of going about it as taught in the Holy Scriptures. When it comes to Christianity, there is no history about tithing in the Acts of apostles or the in church of the Living God. Tithing was not part of Christian practice after the death of Christ and in the first century Christian worship.
The question is that, if Christ, who was a Levite by birth did not collect thithe, the apostles did not teach or instruct that in conducting affairs of the church, it was not part of the legacy of the church, why then are modern day pastors like the Otabil's and Duncan Williams collecting people's monies in the name of tithing left, right and centre, and claiming God will bless them? These are glorified robbers of the poor!
God indeed blesses those who give. But as for those who allow themselves to be hoodwinked by these smart robbers in cassock and robes in the name of Christ, I'm not sure about that.

17 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,
19 and he blessed Abram, saying,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.
20 And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. NIV
Melchizedek was the priest of the Most High God. The bread and wine he offered to Abraham had a close resemblance to the Lord's Supper. (Luke 22: 14 -23)
Hebrews 7 sheds more light on Melchizedek. Here he is called the priest of the Most High God. He was the only one qualified to receive tithes from Abraham. All this happened before the law was established. There is no record of Abraham, who at this time was still called Abram, being told to give tithes to God. Nor is any explanation given for Abraham's paying of tithes. It seems as if the tithes were a free will offering that Abraham instinctively knew he should give. He did it willingly.
Abraham's victory in battle led him to pay tithes. He was not paying a financial debt but offering a gratitude of praise and thanks to God with his tithes. Abraham was moved to give tithes not compelled.
Jacob gives us the second reference to paying tithes when he made a vow to God
Genesis 28:22
20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear 21 so that I return safely to my father's house, then the LORD will be my God 22 and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth." Here Jacob was following a family tradition. Paying of tithes was an act of gratitude and acknowledgement of God's blessings. Giving was and still is an act of worship.
Whiles it is wrong for anybody to impose or force people to tithe and even pronounce curse on them, I don't think what are doing is right because first all you did not call them into ministry and remember with the same measure of judgement you to your brother it will be measured to you! In fact, some can be touched by the Spirit to give 80% to God's work; others need to be supported by God's work. What is wrong and is UNBIBLICAL is to make a law that Christians are supposed to tithe (pay 10% of their income to Churches). That is NOT in the Bible!!! Sure, the Israelites were mandated to pay 10% of their land produce to the Levites who had no land but that has NOTHING to do with Christianity! NOTHING, my brother!!!

As a cristian, i am christ follwer.he abolished the law an eye for an eye and replaced it with love your enemy. He also replaced the act of Leaders leading us to the father and gave us the liberty so now christains can worship the lord on their bed, whiles working, walking, at church, any time.
Jesus did not put a tag on how much one should give. He said we should give whole heartedly. That is why we are not charitable, because we give all to the church and are left with nothing. Jesus did not specify the way we give,you can choose to give more or less so long as you are pleased with it.
For me, i will give what ever i am willing to give whole heartedly,because Jesus said " give with all your heart"
One thing that troubles me is Government takes 15% of our pay, Pastors takes more than 15%. The government build schools, hospitals, employs, build roads and many others.. in effect, the pastors collect more than the Government.

One question I will want the thithing practitioners is that do the Pasors give some of the thithes to other Church workers or keep it for thmselves, for all the Levites enjoyed the thithes in the Old Testament times. Please read the book before any wrong comment. Bro Amartey say give to the church but is a biblically sound way. Would you accept money from an armed robber to support the church? No. Free will giving is biblical but tithing is not. That is what the writer is saying. Tithing was the poor and orphans , not to suport the church. read about tithing in Leviticus.

Yes, take the money the biblical way. tithe is not biblical. tithe was taken only from farmers and animal herders, Tithe was part of the Mosaic laws which we dont follow anymore. That is why we dont do animal sacrifices. Tithes is not biblical. We have to use biblical ways to support the church. Paul and the apostles spread the gospel wthout taking tithes from anyone. Jesus did not take tithes from anyone.

Most people are rich because they went to school, have good skills, running business etc. I pay tithes because i believe it helps the church but the problem in Ghana is that many low educated or uneducated people become pastors simply to enrich themselves through tithing. For now, I have observed that you are condemning tithing because of some wrong tactics that some pastors are using to collect them. Itis definitely not right to "curse" or condemn God's people for not paying tithe. The Bible, both OT and NT is one message from God. The OT is in the NT and vice versa. In fact, NT giving is more demanding than even the OT systems of giving. We are all stewards of what God has given and I think that tithing is an effective way of supporting the work of the giver of all we are and have. Let us not condemn it because some so-called men and women of God are manupulating it. I do tithe and I can testify the blessings therein. (Eph 2:15; Col 2:13, 14) It is true that Levitical priests continued serving at the temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 C.E., but Christians from and after 33 C.E. became part of a new spiritual priesthood that was not supported by tithes.—Ro 6:14; Heb 7:12; 1Pe 2:9, As Christians, they were encouraged to give support to the Christian ministry both by their own ministerial activity and by material contributions. But it already be too late to save those who have been paying tithe for over 10 years. They have been psychologically programmed and indoctrinated that it has become a habit. Remember that the pastors, over the years,have brainwashed their 'flock' that they cannot see that they are being emotionally abused. They are convinced that giving money to TB Joshua to buy a private jet is giving to God. Occasionally the pastors will give some of the booty to a well chosen and assembled disabled persons and organise a photo call to prevent the flock from protesting.
Those 'flock' who see the light and try to defect are quickly recaptured.
How can pastors be living high on the hog, glob trotting in private jet whiskers their poor congregation have no food to eat be giving to God?
Quit deceiving yourselves, the big churches the build with your money belongs to the pastors and not you. Have the church accountant show you the books. The church is the pastor's asset. Your name is not listed as a shareholder.

I followed KSM on this Tithing thing some time ago and I have read myself. Am very certain that tithing will not be the main criteria to heaven. But I oppose to the present mode of collection, application thereof.

Our governments have not been God fearing and has led to a high level of corruption. If Churches took the challenge up they would start somewhere to reduce the bad practice. They have to stop depending on peoples tithing and generate a regular income without blemish. They would need to pray for wisdom and understanding from God so that they could bring about inventions which at present are coming from non-religious individuals.A Pastor had an accident in Nigeria -Port Harcourt and he died only to come back to life after three days at Bonke's revival. In a video had made he said he has been asked to give back all monies collected from people in the name of God. We have forgotten that yea are gods because our father is God . That portion of giving life a meaning to members by employing them into established church business would even attract more members without a struggle.the Holy Spirit was given to us FREE and its time we stopped helping church members to become criminals by stealing from all circles into the church as tithe with the idea that God would give you more by giving more.Some even borrow from banks to do this and life has not been good afterwards. the faith of the Pastors must be equally strong to manifest a multiplication of offerings made in churches as they prayed over it. After all the work is God and He would supply our needs just as He did with the five loaves that fed thousand when Yeshuah the Messiah (now Jesus)was on earth. Any twisting of God's Words by anyone would be treated the same way Satan is going to receive because that was his crime against God. In Christianity, God gave His only begotten son (Jesus) so that men will have salvation. Ask Muslims and they will tell you about Zakat (giving). African traditional worshipers also believe that giving can change ones fortunes. So what is this confused guy saying? Believers do not be deceived, we are obligated to tithe. I will continue to give my tithe to help run my church. I believe that the church can do more to help the poor and needy but that is a different topic all together.

I could write a book in response to his book-cos there is so much to educate him on but I will be brief. Tithing is a command from God; we do it to honour God, the giver of all the monies we have. Do you pay taxes, Mr Amartey? You indeed render to Caesar what is Ceasar's right? Why don't you say because the Auditor-General may "chop" your money you will no more pay taxes? So it is with paying tithes. God commanded for it to be sent to your local church. As to what the pastor does with it, it's not your concern. You have done what God told you to and the pastor will be held accountable to God, not man. Iithing opens the doors for abundant blessings from God, and the only way the devourer mentioned in Mal 3 gets access to devour is when he's kept you from paying your tithes. I do agree with you on one point though, that is tithes should not to be gotten/collected under threats and intimidation; God loves cheerful givers, you know. So you are right there. But don't you DARE spread lies to contradict the Word of God. If you don't want to tithe, that's you. Why do you need to tag others to come follow you? Did any believer come crying to you????? Let God be the judge of what He has instituted. BEWARE! You are so close to being an agent of darkness!!! I am going to write to you, one on one, and we will take it up from there.
