Christianity is alive in the saved who will make it and have made it to heaven but those who follow Adom FM pastors should know that they in most cases respond to their calls to meetings where they take their monies in the form of offerings for their own upkeep; otherwise ask them to give account of all the monies they have collected. They will tell you they collect the monies for God's work; but just try to check and they have nothing to show.

As earlier said, your article was great except the heading. Christianity will never die because God will always leave a remnant behind. As per your article, any student of the scriptures will not be surprised by the cunning nature with which our "pastors" bleed the flock of their hard earned cash! The blame cannot be placed only on the door steps of the pastors because in this time and age, every genuine christian has the Holy Spirit and the complete Bible at their disposal! The christian of today is too lazy to study the scriptures and hence they become a money making machine for their "pastors". Apostle Peter fortold the times we are in as recorded in 2nd Peter 2:1-3. Any one with an insight in the scriptures knows that majority of our current pastors are false teachers! The prosperity gospel as preached on every airwave today is nothing but doctrines of demons as Paul referred to. Am afraid, as we move towards the soon-coming of our Great Kind and Saviour - Jesus Christ, many christians will be deceived by these apostate pastors! Let us content for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints!

Pay beyond your comfort zone.
Even if it is your rent, use to pay tithes and see the wonder of God.
God loves a cheeful giver.
God would pour blessings on you.
NO NO NO NO!!! GOD SAYS IF YOU ARE POOR DONT PAY TITHES. GOS SAYS IF YOU ARE POOR, YOU HAVE TO BE GIVEN TITHES. GOD SAYS IF PASTOR IS RICH, HE HAS TO GIVE TITHES TO THE POOR MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION AND SOCIETY.
THE BIBLE SAYS, IF A POOR PERSON HAS NOT ENOUGH TO pAY HIS KIDS SCHOOL FEES, DONT TAKE TITHES FROM HIM. GIVE THE POOR PERSON TITHES. THE TITHES IS NOT FOR CHURCH BUILDINGS, OR A SUIT FOR PASTOR. THIS IS UNBIBLICAL. THE TITHE IS FOR FEEDING THE POOR. IT IS NOT FOR SPREADING THE WORD OF GOD, IT IS FOR FEEDING THE POOR. THAT IS THE LAW OF GOD.
STOP STEALING FROM THE POOR. STOP IT NOW!!!!

Please and please again show from the Bible where God through his Prophets, Apostles and the first Christians that "YOU CAN USE MONEY TO PAY TITHES???...Where in the Bible???
TITHES WAS NEVER PAID WITH MONEY OR CASH. IT WAS PAID WITH FOOD. IN LEVITICUS, IT SAYS IF YOU ARE GOING TO JERUSALEM WITH YOUR TITHES (FOOD) AND THE FOOD WOULD SPOIL, SELL THE FOOD FOR MONEY. BUT WHEN YOU GET TO JERUSALEM, USE THE MONEY TO BUY FOOD AND TAKE THE FOOD TO THE TEMPLE. INVITE THE HOMELESS, ORPHANS, STRANGERS AND LEVITES TO ENJOY THE TITHES.
Jesus didn't pay tithes, neither any of his Apostles because none of them possess or work on the land.
ONLY FARMERS AND PEOPLE WHO HAD ANIMALS PAID TITHES. CARPENTERS LIKE JESUS DID NOT PAY TITHES. BLACKSMITHS AND GOLDSMITHS AND LABORERS IN ANCEINT ISREAL DID NOT PAY TITHES.
God appointed only one place where you can send your tithes, that is the Temple in Jerusalem.
A Christian don't pay tithes because the tith laws are not meant for Christians.
THE TITHE LAW WAS PART OF THE OLD CEVENANT LAWS, PART OF THE MOSAIC LAWS. THERE ARE OVER 600 MOSAIC LAWS, XHRISTIANS DONT OBEY THESE LAWS, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW. IF YOU WANT TO OBEY THE TITHE LAW, THEN YOU HAVE TO OBEY ALL THE MOSAIC LAWS.
Tithe was paid only on the increase.
ACCRORDING TO THE TITHE LAWS, IF YOU HAVE 200 COWS IN 2012, AND BY THE END OF THE YEAR YOU HAVE 250 COWS, YOU DONT PAY TITHES ON THE 250 COWS. YOU DONT GIVE 10% OF 250. THE LAW SAYS YOU PASY TITHES ON THE INCREASE. THE INCREASE IS 50, SO YOU PAY 10% OF 50. SO YOUR IS 5 COWS, AND NOT 25. THE TITHE IS ON THE INCREASE OR PROFIT.
Whoever takes 25 cows is robbing the Lord. Many pastors are robbing God. Tithes was meant first, for the poor, orphans and strangers, and then the poor Levites ( they had no land and no property). Any rich pastor taing tithes is robbing God.
Jesus, Paul and all the apostles did not pay tithes.
THE POOR DID NOT PAY TITHES.
according to the mosaic laws, the poor people in Israel did not pay tithes, they were given the tithes.
Yes, a poor person can give an offering. But when it came to tithes, the law said the poor did not pay.
SO WHO IS ROBBING GOD, THE PASTORS OF THE POOR CHURCH MEMBERS?

THE TITHE WAS NOT FOR CHURCH FURNITURE OR PASTOR'S NEW CAR. THE TITHE WAS FIRST AND FOREMOST FOR THE POOR AND DESTITUTE IN SOCIETY. THAT IS THE LAW OF GOD. YOU CANNOT MAKE UP THE LAW TO SUITE YOUR OWN SELFISH INTEREST.
THE LAW SAYS GIVE THE TITHES TO THE POOR, ORPHANS, WIDOWS AND STRANGERS, AND IT SAYS BY THE WAY, DONT FORGET THE POOR LEVITES. SO THE LARGE PORTION OF THE TITHES GO TO THE POOR.
HOW CAN TITHES BE GIVEN TO WEALTHY PASTORS WHEN THE POOR BECOME AN AFTER-THOUGHT? THE TITHE IS FOR THE POOR. THE LIVITES WERE INCLUDED BECAUSE THEY HAD NO INHERITANCE, BECUASE THEY WERE POOR LIKE THE DORPHANS, WIDOWS AND STRANGERS.

A point often made is that since Abram gave 10 percent of the war-spoils to Melchizedek, the tithe came before the law and is thus not a part of it.
In a word, nonsense. For example, God killed an animal to provide a "covering" for Adam and Eve, and Able got this right in his approach to God by way of sacrifice, long before the sacrificial "covenant" spelled out the details. So did Abraham, Jacob and many others predating "the Law". Does this mean we should still kill animals in sacrifice, since Able and Abraham did so before the Law of Moses was formally established? No. This would be so flimsy an excuse logically that it could only be made by someone with a strong hankering for the old wine. (Luke 5:39) Good grief, how far away from Christ do we want to go, and with what faulty logic as an excuse? What next, we can't eat "apples" from certain trees... should be carried into the "new covenant"? In Christ the religious law is dispatched with in totality, and to embrace any part of it is to tacitly reject the reality of the incarnation of Christ and the promises of the New Covenant.
Imagine that someone actually asserted that we should not eat from certain apple trees because "this command predates the law, and thus is not part of the old or new covenant". Wouldn't this be a clear symptom of liking the old wine better than the new? Wouldn't it also hark of an ignorance of biblical history and a penchant for religious myth as well? Was it an "apple", as per popular fable, or a fig? What the tithe actually is in scripture is dealt with elsewhere, but for the purpose here we need to look at what happened between Abram and Melchizedek in context.
Melchizedek did not receive a tithe in the Deuteronomy 14:22-29 sense, obviously, even though the same Hebrew word is used since it was a "tenth". Yet the context was different in many aspects. In the case of Melchizedek it was a "spoils of war" issue; more like a tribute or tax than the tithe. Melchizedek was a king and priest and had a higher standing than Abraham who was at that time a wanderer without a home, and thus Abraham paid tribute to "the greater". This is the point of the citation in the New Testament. For the purposes of the point of the writer of Hebrews, the amount (5/10/20/50%) is not the point--it is that Abraham paid homage as a lesser to a greater. "The Tithe" in the old covenant had little to do with homage, rather the opposite. The greater were to give to the lesser (alien, Levites, widows, etc.) as can be seen in the definition of the tithe in Dt 14:22-29
Heb 7:4 (NIV) Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!
AND BY THE WAY, WHERE IN THE BIBLE WAS MONEY SENT TO THE TEMPLE AS TITHES?

"But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him" (Habakkuk 2:20).

Tithes is supposed to go in helpimg the poor after taking care of church expenses yet most modern day pastors will take all and build treasuers here on earth.
These they do because they do understand that manner is not going to drop down from heaven, the last time this did happen was about 4000 years ago.
So they encourage the church members to donate and pay tithes which they use to enrich themselves then turn around to tell the church members to wait on God and count their blessings later. What an irony?
When it comes to using religion to cheat the Jews and Muslims are far better of Christians.
Ask yourself why every young man woman in Gh today and in most of Africa wanna be a pastor ? Why do we have more prophets prophesizing everyday than any nation on earth yet the problems continue to mount with no relief on site?
How are we ever going to develop when we have more pastors than Engineers, Doctors, Physicist, Lawyers, Achitechts, Chemist etc. Which nation developed on earth developed through pastors and miracle men? Not even Israel which has more scientist per capita than many other nations on earth.
The African will always be last because we refuse to think and use our head the very thing God gave us for a purpose.

TITHE
A tenth part, or 10 percent, given or paid as a tribute, especially for religious purposes.
The Bible tells of two instances prior to the setting up of the Law covenant in which a tenth part of possessions was paid to God or to his representative. The first of these was on the occasion when Abraham gave Melchizedek one tenth of the spoils of his victory over Chedorlaomer and his allies. (Ge 14:18-20) The apostle Paul cites this incident as proof that Christ’s priesthood according to the manner of Melchizedek is superior to that of Levi, since Levi, being in the loins of Abraham, paid tithes, in effect, to Melchizedek. (Heb 7:4-10) The second case concerned Jacob, who vowed at Bethel to give one tenth of his substance to God.—Ge 28:20-22.
These two accounts, however, are merely instances of voluntarily giving one tenth. There is no record to the effect that Abraham or Jacob commanded their descendants to follow such examples, thereby establishing a religious practice, custom, or law. It would have been superfluous for Jacob, if already under a compulsory obligation to pay tithes, to vow to do so, as he did. It is therefore evident that the tithing arrangement was not a custom or a law among the early Hebrews. It was instituted with the inauguration of the Law covenant, not before.
Mosaic Tithing Laws. Jehovah gave Israel tithing laws for definite purposes, apparently involving the use of two tenths of their annual income, except during the Sabbath years, when no tithe was paid, since no income was anticipated. (Le 25:1-12) However, some scholars believe there was only one tithe. Such tithes were in addition to the firstfruits they were under obligation to offer to Jehovah.—Ex 23:19; 34:26.
The first tithe, consisting of one tenth of the produce of the land and fruit trees and (evidently of the increase) of the herds and flocks, was brought to the sanctuary and given to the Levites, since they had no inheritance in the land but were devoted to the service of the sanctuary. (Le 27:30-32; Nu 18:21, 24) The Levites, in turn, gave a tenth of what they received to the Aaronic priesthood for their support.—Nu 18:25-29.
Evidently the grain was threshed and the fruit of the vine and of the olive tree was converted into wine and oil before tithing. (Nu 18:27, 30; Ne 10:37) If an Israelite wished to give money instead of this produce, he could do so, provided he added an additional fifth to the valuation. (Le 27:31) But it was different with the flock and the herd. As the animals came out of the pen one by one through a gate, the owner stood by the gate with a rod and marked every tenth one as the tithe, without examination or selection.—Le 27:32, 33.
It seems there was an additional tithe, a second tenth, set aside each year for purposes other than the direct support of the Levitical priesthood, though the Levites shared in it. Normally it was used and enjoyed in large measure by the Israelite family when assembling together at the national festivals. In cases where the distance to Jerusalem was too great for the convenient transport of this tithe, then the produce was converted into money and this, in turn, was used in Jerusalem for the household’s sustenance and enjoyment during the holy convention there. (De 12:4-7, 11, 17, 18; 14:22-27) Then, at the end of every third and sixth years of the seven-year sabbatical cycle, this tithe, instead of being used to defray expenses at the national assemblies, was set aside for the Levites, alien residents, widows, and fatherless boys in the local community.—De 14:28, 29; 26:12.
These tithing laws binding on Isr ael were not excessive. Nor should it be overlooked that God promised to prosper Israel by opening “the floodgates of the heavens” if his tithing laws were obeyed. (Mal 3:10; De 28:1, 2, 11-14) When the people became negligent as to tithing, the priesthood suffered, for the priests and Levites were forced to spend their time in secular work and consequently neglected their ministerial services. (Ne 13:10) Such unfaithfulness tended to bring about a decline in true worship. Sadly, when the ten tribes fell away to calf worship, they used the tithe to support that false religion. (Am 4:4, 5) On the other hand, when Israel was faithful to Jehovah and was under the rule of righteous administrators, tithing for the Levites was restored, and true to Jehovah’s promise, there were no shortages.—2Ch 31:4-12; Ne 10:37, 38; 12:44; 13:11-13.
Under the Law there was no stated penalty to be applied to a person failing to tithe. Jehovah placed all under a strong moral obligation to provide the tithe; at the end of the three-year tithing cycle, they were required to confess before him that the tithe had been paid in full. (De 26:12-15) Anything wrongfully withheld was viewed as something stolen from God.—Mal 3:7-9.
By the first century C.E., the Jewish religious leaders, particularly among the scribes and Pharisees, were making a sanctimonious show of tithing and other outward works, in a form of worship, but their hearts were far removed from God. (Mt 15:1-9) Jesus reproved them for their selfish, hypocritical attitude, calling attention to their being meticulous to give a tenth even of “the mint and the dill and the cumin”—something they should have done—yet at the same time disregard ding “the weightier matters of the Law, namely, justice and mercy and faithfulness.” (Mt 23:23; Lu 11:42) By way of illustration, Jesus contrasted the Pharisee who boastfully felt self-righteous because of his own works of fasting and tithing, with the tax collector who, though considered as nothing by the Pharisee, humbled himself, confessed his sins to God, and begged for divine mercy.—Lu 18:9-14.
No Tithing for Christians. At no time were first-century Christians commanded to pay tithes. The primary purpose of the tithing arrangement under the Law had been to support Israel’s temple and priesthood; consequently the obligation to pay tithes would cease when that Mosaic Law covenant came to an end as fulfilled, through Christ’s death on the torture stake. (Eph 2:15; Col 2:13, 14) It is true that Levitical priests continued serving at the temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 C.E., but Christians from and after 33 C.E. became part of a new spiritual priesthood that was not supported by tithes.—Ro 6:14; Heb 7:12; 1Pe 2:9.
As Christians, they were encouraged to give support to the Christian ministry both by their own ministerial activity and by material contributions. Instead of giving fixed, specified amounts to defray congregational expenses, they were to contribute “according to what a person has,” giving “as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2Co 8:12; 9:7) They were encouraged to follow the principle: “Let the older men who preside in a fine way be reckoned worthy of double honaor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching. For the scripture says: ‘You must not muzzle a bull when it threshes out the grain’; also: ‘The workman is worthy of his wages.’” (1Ti 5:17, 18) However, the apostle Paul set an example in seeking to avoid bringing an undue financial burden on the congregation.—Ac 18:3; 1Th 2:9.

A "blind man" cannot claim to see better than someone with 20/20 vision. Your argument clearly shows that you have no clue what true Christianity or what I call "The Christianity of Jesus" is all about. In other words, you have no understanding at all. All you need to do is to humble yourself and seek the God of all flesh and you will be saved.
Christianity is not for the arrogant and the pompous.

He said "this ye ought to have done and NOT to leave the other undone". in other words, In addition to faith, mercy and love One shouldn't leave the tithing either. If one knws the word it is not easy to cheat such a person. On the other hand u said pastor are tight fisted?, the writer has failed to admit that there are various pastors taking care of orphans, widows, giving scholarships, preaching repentance and bring peace in our communities, may be without such messages Armed robbery would take over the society, Mr Writer afterall your arguments,hw much money do u have to feed any pastor? Can your money save u on the bed of affliction? When people are getting married they call Osofo, Funeral= Osofo, Baby dedication= Osofo. Christ did not set this properity easy money making example for us whiles on earth..its a foolish response from a gullible Christian unless you are also one of them money seeling self made pastors taking advantage of the poor uneducated and the desperate. Christ did not take a dime from those he healed.
Even from what was given to them they gave back to the poor after taking care of themselves.
Your argument will be similar to those Christ whipped in the Temple whom he accused of turning his fathers house into a den of thieves. And that was one of the reason they killed him...He called the priest thieves who exalted themselves to the status of a god.

ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, ONLY FARMERS AND PEOPLE WHO RAISED ANIMALS PAID TITHES IN ISRAEL, FISHERMEN DID NOT PAY TITHES. THIS IS BIBLICAL. JESUSM PAUL AND THE EARLY CHRISTIANS DID NOT PAY TITHES. IT IS GOOD TO GIVE TO THE CHURCH, BUT TITHES HAD A SPECIAL PURPOSE IN THE BIBLE-THAT IS TO FEED THE POOR. THAT IS IT !
I stick to more than 10% because I love God and i want His work to move on.
TITHES WAS MEANT TO FEED THE WIDOWS, POOR, STRANGERS AND ORPHANS. TITHES WAS NOT FOR A CHURCH ORGAN OR A TICKET TO LONDON FOR PASTOR. THE BIBLE SAYS TITHES IS FOR THE POOR. TITHES IS NOT TO PRINT MORE BIBLES OR BUY A MIC OR PHONE FOR THE CHURCH. READ LEVITICUS ON TITHES.
Love gives, I am so blessed every time i give.
YOU CAN GIVE ALL YOUR INCOME TO THE CHURCH, THAT IS OK. TOU CAN BUY YOUR PASTOR A HOUSE THAT IS OK. THAT IS YOUR CHOICE. BUT THAT IS NOT THE PURPOSE OF TITHES IN ANCIENT ISRAEL. TITHES WAS FOR THE POOR.
It works , I m telling U! those who argue that tithing is not in the new testament are all poor,
WORSHIPPING GOD IS NOT ABOUT ACQUIRING RICHES OR WEALTH. IF YOU ARE PROMISED WEALTH IF YOU PAY TITHES, SOMEONE IS LYING TO YOU. SOME FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS ARE RICH, SOME ARE POOR. SOME HINDUS ARE POOR, SOME HINDUS ARE POOR. PAYING TITHES MAKES NO ONE RICH. SOME OF THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD ARE NOT CHRISTIANS, THEY DONT PAY TITHES.
since u stopped tithing how much money have u saved.
ITHES HAS NOTHUNG TO DO WITH RICHES. THE JAPANESE ARE SOME OF THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIANS. TED TURNER, A BILLIONAIRE, DOES NOT EVEN BELIEVE THERE IS GOD. I HOPE THIS ATHEIST COMES TO CHRIST. BUT BEING RICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PAYING TITHES. PLEASE , PASTORS HAVE TO STOP LYING TO PEOPLE.
Lay forselves treasures in heaven,
THE TREASURE YOU LAY IN HEAVEN IS LIVING ACCORDING TO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST, NOT PAYING TITHES.
for the Gospel to expand we need to give generously and sometime above our "comfort" means.
THAT IS THE BIGGEST LIE SOME PASTORS TEACH. MOSAIC LAW DID NOT TELL THE POOR TO PAY TITHES BEYONG THEIR COMFORT ZONE. THE LAW SAID, THE POOR SHOULD NOT PAY TITHES. THE LAW SAID GIVE THE POOR THE TITHES. ASKING THE POOR TO GIVE BEYOND THEIR COMFORT ZONE IS JUST A WAY FOR SOME PASTORS TO MILK THE POOR CONGREGATION DRY. THIS IS CRIMINAL AND SINFUL.
Many Christians want the blessing of Abraham but they dont wanna do the sacrifices of Abraham. He was ready to sacrifice even his son to God.
YOU WANT TO SACRIFICE? THEN FOLLOW THE LAWS OF GOD. IF THE BIBLE SAYS GIVE THE TITHES TO THE POOR, THEN GIVE IT TO THE POOR. YOU WANT TO SACRIFICE, GO AND LIVE IN A REMOTE PLACE, AMIDST SICKNESS AND SQUALOUE AND PREACH THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST. DONT LET GREEDY, MATERIALISTIC PASTORS FOOL YOU.
What is money? if God has given me life, good health and blessed me spiritually and physically why should i disobey his word
YOU ARE DISOBEYING GOD WHEN YOU GIVE TITHES TO UR PASTOR INSTEAD OF GIVING IT TO THE POOR. THE BIBLE SAYS GIVE THE TITHES, ALL THE TITHES TO THE POOR. THE TITHES, ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF GOD, IS NOT TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL OR BUY FURNITURE FOR UR CHURCH. THE TITHES IS TO FEED THE POOR AND DESTITUTE.
LYING TO PEOPLE THAT PAYING TITHES WOULD MAKE PEOPLE RICH IS SINFUL. OPRAH WINFREY, MICHAEL JORDAN, KOBE BRYANT, JK ROWLINS ETC ARE ALL VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE, NOT BECAUSE OF TITHES.
TELL PEOPLE THE TRUTH. GIVE OFFERINGS TO GOD BECAUSE YOU LOVE GOD. DONT GIVE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU WOULD BECOME WEALTHY OR HAVE A BREAKTHROUGH. BECAUSE, IT IS A LIE.
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, EVEN IN SICKNESS, POVERTY OR ADVERSITY.

the bible was not written to enslave people. It was written by those inspired by the Holy Spirit and are God's Law to humanity and if we all follow these Laws, the world will no know sorrow and pain. Right from the beginning of human existence, God gave us instruction which the first creation didn't follow and as a result God's anger prevailed on them. The bible is God's true Words, though there are several translations; it does not affect the authenticity of the Word. However, we must seek the spirit of God to give us inner understand so we are not misled by so called pastors, prophets and other things.

Dear kk,I have no problems with people who are very religious. We are told that God created Adam and Eve.We are all then offsprings. We are at the same time told that Israelites are the children of God!What are we then, Nonisraelites? Were Adam and Eve Jews? Before I left Ghana in 1960 to study here in Germany, I was very religious because I had been indoctrinated to believe in the Bible.Studying Science opened my eyes and since then, have been doing a lot of research. The Bible was used to enslave us and also to let us believe in divine interventions, which don`t exist.Have you heard about IVF? Is it God`s will to have some children born with disabilities or defects? There are many questions but no answers! Why is is religion very strong in very poor countries? Why do we have everything in our country to make us selfsufficient but rather choose to pray day and night for devine interventions which have never occured?I have nothing against you believing in God and His Christ!Scientists have been able to make us live longer!I would be fired for the least mistake I make as a consultant in surgery.Who is to blame for the natural disasters eg.earthquakes, volcanoes, Tornadoes,Seaquakes etc.?Isn`t it the creator, then?We all know how these natural disasters occur. It is due to how the earth evolved and nothing else.Have a nice day,Bro.!

The bible is not the word of God. With all its mistakes and discrepancies, how can it be the word of God? Unless such things as accuracy in counting, predictions and geography are not important to him/her. Then again you may be alright with that. The bible is not accurate in so many things and cannot be the work of an all knowing God.
PS: When God said lets create man in our image who was he talking to? Angels? Or other Gods? If so where are our wings?

Andy, you've made an excellent point. I have come to believe that, until a human exhausts the common sense God has endowed him/her with, God sits and watches her/him suffer in vain. As you pointed out, common sense was enough to inform your friend that, money gifted to her should not at all cost attract tithe but she failed to use common sense. She will continue to go through unnecessary suffering for as long as she fails to apply her God-given common sense.

About the lady issue, that is pathetic. This article has very good points. I am a devoted young Christian woman and honestly many of these pastors are misinterpreting the undiluted scripture verses for their own gains. Christians need to be vigilant. I have not come across a verse in the Bible which states one should pay tithe on giftings, perhaps it's there but just haven't seen it. But really tithe is meant to be paid on your earnings and one can earn something by working for it so imagine if you have no work, how do you earn money to pay a tithe on? This woman Mr. Sarpong Owusu-Ansah is definitely confused or has been brain washed. Thanks for this info, it will serve as an eye opener and perhaps push us to dwell more in the word of God. God bless you.

The Right way to tithe
Frequently Asked Questions - The Right Way to Tithe
1. Tithe and the Bible
What is tithe and where it came from?
Tithe, in simple terms, is the first ten percent (10%) of all our income, and it belongs to God. The easiest way to calculate the 10% is by moving all the dots to the next digit on their left and cutting the last digit on the right.
For example:
If the income is USD 150.00, you move the dot to the next digit on the left and it will be USD 15.00. This is the tithe. If the income is USD 1,234.50, the tithe will be USD 123.45. If it is USD 67,899.00, the tithe will be USD 6,789.00. And so on.
Tithe is a very ancient practice kept by God-fearing people everywhere. God Himself established the principle of tithing teaching it through the patriarchs, the kings of Israel, the prophets and the Lord Jesus Himself.
The very first time it appears in the Bible is in Genesis 14:18-20 when Abraham gave his tithes to Melchizedek, King of Salem - a tenth of all the spoils from the victory over his enemies, when he rescued his nephew Lot. The Scriptures say, "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was the priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, 'Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.' Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything." It is also interesting to note that the last time the Bible makes reference to the tithe is exactly in its last book, in Revelation 14:4, when it refers to the redeemed as the "first fruits to God and to the Lamb."
What is the real meaning of tithe?
Tithe is the recognition of God's lordship over all things. When someone gives his tithe, he is in fact, recognising that God is Lord, not only Lord of his life but also Lord of everything his life produces. The deepest meaning of tithe is in the understanding that everything (100%) we have belongs to God. When we give Him the tithe (10% of everything), He releases the remaining 90% for our use. In other words, everything belongs to God; we give Him 10% in order for us to have the privilege of using the other 90%. Among the Jews, the tithe signified their recognition of God's participation in their productivity.
The purpose of the tithe was not to consecrate the harvest, but to 'de-consecrate' it, for everything belonged to God until the first portion, the tithe, had been offered and accepted in place of the whole (100%). Only then, man could use the other 90% for himself. The Lord said, "If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? Sacrifice thank-offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me." (Psalms 50:12-15). In other words, God makes it clear that if He needed money, He would not ask us because He owns everything! But if we pay our vows and offer thanksgiving to Him, then He will be pleased and will answer us when we call upon Him in the day of trouble. Looking at it this way, it's not accurate to say, "I give tithe" - rather, we should say, "I bring the tithe", since we cannot give what does not belong to us.
The tithe represents God's own firstborn, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High, who was given by God to mankind, to redeem us to Himself. We bring Him our tithe because we recognise that everything in life comes from Him.
What is the correct way to tithe?
The correct way to tithe is to set apart your 10% before you do anything with your money, because tithe means first fruits. Therefore, before you pay any bill or buy anything with the money you receive, first you must set apart the tithe.
Even if you don't are not coming to the Church that day, keep your tithe in an envelope and bring it to the altar of God as soon as possible. The Lord said, "When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest... You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live." (Leviticus 23:10,14). Therefore, God determined that before we do anything with our harvest (our income) we must bring our firstfruits (the tithes) to Him. The spirit of this ordinance is to remind us that God is first in our lives.
Isn't tithe part of the Law of Moses, practiced only by the Jews in the Old Testament? Didn't Jesus fulfill the Law of Moses and therefore cancel the commandment of tithe?
Not at all. The practice of tithing exists existed since The the Creation, long before the Law of Moses. Then it was regulated by the Mosaic Law and further endorsed by the Lord Jesus. Abraham paid tithe, Jacob paid tithe, Abel paid tithes, and they all lived before the Law of Moses.
The Lord Jesus said to the Pharisees, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices - mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law - justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practised the latter, without neglecting the former." (Matthew 23:23).
The Pharisees used to give tithe even of the little herbs, but neglected the other more important matters demanded by the law. And in that verse, Jesus is not only addressing the matter of tithes, but also the justice and love of God. In other words: What's the use if someone tithes and yet still has a feeling of hate or grudge against someone else? It's no use at all! It is every Christian's obligation not only to keep his duties to God by being a faithful tither, but also to love his neighbour as himself. Giving tithe cannot cover your sins or disobedience to other matters of God's Kingdom.
I heard in the church that we give tithe to God; but I don't see God to give to Him the tithe!
Of course not! But His servants who have committed their whole lives to serve in His House are responsible for and are in authority to receive tithes from the people. Read this: "In the one case, the tenth is collected by men who die; but in the other case, by Him who is declared to be living." (Hebrews 7:8). As you can see, although the mortal pastors collect the tithes as stewards of God, it is the living God who receives them. The tithe belongs to God and therefore it is the responsibility of the Church's Ministers not to use the tithes for any purpose other than for the work of God. "A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD." (Leviticus 27:30).
If I don't give tithe, does that mean I will not be saved?
The Bible doesn't say that you will not be saved if you don't give tithe. God did does say, however, that those who don't give tithes are robbing Him: "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse - the whole nation of you - because you are robbing me." (Malachi 3:8,9).
The Holy Spirit said through the apostle Paul that thieves shall not inherit the Kingdom of God (see 1 Corinthians 6:10). Therefore we conclude: If those who rob men will not inherit the Kingdom of God, what about those who rob God? Besides, if you really understand and value your salvation, you will realise that tithe had has a direct impact on your salvation and on that the salvation of millions around the world - because without tithes, the saving message of the Gospel could not have reached you.
So, if failing to tithe will have an impact on your salvation after you've heard the Gospel, I cannot tell; but it will certainly have an impact on the salvation of millions who still have to hear the Gospel to be saved.
2. Tithe and your finances
How can tithe benefit my finances if after giving I am left with less than before?
This is the miracle of tithe. Only seeing it to believe it! God, knowing that tithe does not make sense mathematically, has put forward a challenge to us: TEST ME AND SEE! (Malachi 3.10). The only time in the Bible that God invites us to put Him to the test is when He speaks about tithes.
This should tell us something about how serious He is. You must also consider that when you tithe you can count on God's protection upon your money. He promised to rebuke the devourer. He promised to bless you with more than you can have room for. When you tithe, you remove yourself from under the curse of those who rob God. So, in the end, you will see that the 90% you keep after tithing becomes more prosperous in your hands than the 100% without God's blessing.
How much is the tithe? Is it like an offering?
Tithe is not offering, and offering is not tithe - they are two completely separate things. Tithe is exactly the first 10% of your income (all the money you receive), neither more nor less than the 10%.
For example, if you get USD 1,000.00 then your tithe is USD 100.00; if you get USD 750.00 then your tithe is USD 75.00; if you get USD 2,345.00 then your tithe is USD 234.50 - and so on. Make sure you are not tithing any more or less than the 10%. On the other hand, offering is the best of what you have and wish to give to God.
The amount of your offering depends on your faith and love; the amount of your tithe is always 10% of what you receive. However, you should not give offerings from money you have not tithed yet. First is the tithe, then the offerings. One is not more or less important than the other - they just have different meanings and purposes. Tithe means faithfulness, submission and obedience; offering can mean love, faith, thanksgiving, and sacrifice.
What must I tithe?
You must tithe everything that comes to your hands, which is yours, for your use, benefit, or enjoyment. That includes wages, overtime pay, bonuses, unemployment benefit, child support, business profits/profit from business, pensions, allowances, interest earned on an account, inheritance, prizes, commission, sales, gifts, etc. The Scriptures say: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse..." also Jacob prayed unto God: "And of all that You give me I will give you a tenth." (Malachi 3.10; Genesis 28.22). Therefore, everyone can tithe, since everyone receives something to live on, one way or another.
When I become a tither, must I tithe money i already have?
When you become a tither, you should start by giving the tithe of what you already have with you, and then tithe regularly from that point onwards. Let's say, for example, you become a tither today and the money you have with you (which has not been tithed) is USD 872.00 plus USD 2,000.00 in the bank. So, you should already give a tithe oUSD R 287.20 today (87.20 + 200). And from now on, you tithe everything you receive.
Should a salaried worker give tithe of the gross or of the net salary (the amount before or after deductions)?
If you are a salaried worker you should tithe 10% of the gross salary that you receive, that is, the amount before deduction. The reason for this is that those deductions are in effect benefits afforded by you by means of your employer directing your money to the relevant benefit agency. For instance, a pension fund is for your pension, medical aid is for your health care, etc. Although it's deducted from you, it's your money, for your benefit, and so it needs to be tithed.
The Word of God says clearly that we must give the tithe of all (see Proverbs 3.9, Genesis 14.20, Malachi 3.10). If you give tithe of the net only, so you are not giving tithes of all. It is also very important to ensure you give your tithe as that the first thing you do with your money when you receive it is to separate your tithe. - because In this way, you're fulfilling the greatest purpose of the tithe: To acknowledge that God is first in your life.
How should a business owner give tithe?
Business owners normally take a fixed salary out of their business, and that salary should be tithed following the advice on 2.5. But apart from that, a business owner needs to tithe the profit of his business.
We emphasise that it is the profit that must be tithed, not the turnover. Profit, basically speaking, is the difference between the income and the expense of the business. Suppose for example that in one month your business had a total income of USD 15,000.00. The expenses in the same month (rent, materials, salaries, utilities, etc.) totalled USD 12,300.00. The difference then is USD 2,700.00 - that is your profit. Therefore, your tithe should be USD 270.00 for that month. So remember: Income - Expense = Profit x 10% = Tithe of the Business
How should a self-employed person give tithe?
The self-employed are those who sell goods or services by themselves and retain the proceeds of the sales (not working and getting a salary from their own registered business or someone else's). Examples include consultants, electricians, merchandisers, etc.
Let's say you are an electrician who does carries out jobs in houses. Someone contracts you to fix a problem in his or her house, and after doing the job, you charge USD 950.00for it. This includes USD 150.00 for the parts you had to buy to fix the problem. The parts (materials) you used are a cost to the owner and are included in your price. The real income you get from this job is USD 800.00, which is the price minus the parts. Therefore when you get paid the USD 950.00, your tithe should be USD 80.00 and not USD 95.00. So remember: Payment Received - Parts or Materials = Your Income x 10% = Your Tithe
What if I am not working?
No one lives on nothing, so everyone can and should tithe (even beggars can tithe from the donations money they receive!). If you don't receive wages, you will probably receive other forms of income such as gifts, allowances, government benefits, occasional business, etc. You must tithe these. However, you should never tithe money that is not yours.
For example, your husband gives you money specifically for the groceries - then you should not tithe it, except with his consent and if he has not already tithed it from his own salary. But if he gives you money for yourself generally, then it's yours and you're free to tithe it. Some say, "I'm unemployed, I can't tithe." If you are unemployed, in debt or financially broke, now is the time to start tithing because this is the only way God can change your situation. Don't wait until you can afford to tithe; put God to the test now and see Him opening the windows of heaven upon you.
How should a pensioner give tithe?
A pensioner should tithe the gross amount of his or her pension, as in 2.5.
If my husband gives tithe, shall I give tithe of the money he gives me?
If your husband has tithed his money already and then given you some of that money already tithed, you don't need to give tithe again. But if he doesn't tithe and gives you money for your use, then you should tithe it.
Remember, as explained earlier, if your husband is not a tither and gives you money specifically for the house household bills, you should not tithe it because it's not yours. In any case, if you earn wages from your own work, in addition to your husband's, or have another kind of income (i.e. pension, etc.) for yourself, you should give your own tithe from that also.
If your child receives benefit, you should tithe it and at the same time use it as an opportunity to teach your child why he should do it, in the fear of the Lord. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6).
Must I tithe money I take as a loan?
The Bible does not have specific instructions about tithing money taken as a loan. In such cases, we must apply our faith as well as the law of our conscience.
Technically, if one takes a loan to repay it with money already tithed, one would not need to tithe the loan, lest he would tithe it twice.
Some people take this view and prefer not to tithe loans, since they intend to pay it back with money already tithed. Others, however, take the view that since the Bible says we should tithe everything, they should also tithe loans.
One of the purposes of tithing is to bless the remaining 90% for our use. "If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy." (Romans 11:16). That means, once the firstfruits have been offered, the remaining is released for use by the owner. From this perspective, tithing the loan is viewed as a blessing upon the remaining money, and consequently upon the purpose for which it will be used. Therefore, it's a matter of faith. Do what you believe is right with a clear conscience.
Must I tithe money I received when sell a property?
If you bought that property with money already tithed, then you just tithe the profit of the sale, that is, the difference between what you paid for it and what you got when you sold it. For instance, you bought a house for USD 150,000.00 and later sold it for USD 170,000.00. So your tithe will be USD 2,000.00 - from the USD 20,000.00 profit of the sale.
If you sell a property that was not acquired with money already tithed, then you should tithe the full amount of the sale. In this case, following the example above, the tithe should be USD 17,000.00.
Must I give tithe of gifts I receive?
Money gifts should obviously be tithed. Gifts in kind, however, deserve careful consideration in each case. For example, you receive a house or car as a gift. You may either give the tithe every month until you reach the amount, or you may wait until you sell it and then give the tithe of it. For smaller items, again the law of faith and conscience applies. However small the amount, it's faithfulness to God that counts. Do what you believe is right, with a clear conscience.
What about benefits and investments?
Some employees receive benefits from their employers that are not included in their salary. For instance, your employer may pay you a salary of USD 5,000.00 plus an extra USD 500.00 for your transport to and from work. This is a benefit with a specific purpose, and not part of your salary. Therefore, it should not be tithed - or used for anything else, for that matter! It's for transport only. If you don't use it for that month, you should return it to your employer or have it adjusted for the next month. If the employer lets you keep it, then you must tithe it.
About investments, say, shares or other interest-bearing or savings accounts, you must tithe the increase earned on the investment. Say, you invest or save USD 1,000.00 and over a period it bears an interest of USD 100.00- then you should give tithe of USD 10.00, which is the tithe of the increase on the investment.
May I use the tithe in time of need and pay it later?
Can you be unfaithful to your wife now and then be faithful later? Absolutely not! Here’s this is where the faithfulness of the tither comes in. God may at times allow you to be in a situation where you will have to choose between paying the tithe and leaving the other commitments or keeping the other commitments and not paying the tithe. This could be a test of your faith and faithfulness.
The Bible says the tithe is most holy unto the Lord and must not be touched (Leviticus 27:30). If a man uses his tithe for something else, he must add a penalty of a fifth (20%) to it: "If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it." (Leviticus 27:31).
The right thing to do is to set the tithe aside first, whatever the circumstances. Then, as a faithful tither, you can trust and even demand that God help helps you to meet your commitments as He promised in His Word.
What must I do when payments are debited from my account before I have time to take out the tithe?
There are only two reasons why this may be happening to you: poor money management or your creditors have got a court order to debit your account upon receipt of any money. In the first case - poor money management - you can arrange your debit orders to come out of your account a few days after you expect money to come in.
For example, if you get paid on the 30th of the month, you can arrange the accounts to be debited on the 4th or the 5th so you may have time to take your tithe first. In the second case, there is little you can do about it except to pay your debts as quickly as possible and finish them, putting an end to them! In any event, you should write a cheque or withdraw your tithe as the first thing you do after receiving your money and give it. What counts is that you remembered and acted upon it first. The first thing you should do is, write a cheque or withdraw the tithe as soon as you receive your money.
If I don't have the exact amount to give my tithe, may I round it off or buy something first to get the right change?
When I give my tithe, I always round it off to the next higher round figure. I just don't feel good giving it to the exact cent, so I always give a little bit more as an offering. This way I don't have to worry about breaking finding small change and I feel happy knowing I've been generous. But that's this is a personal practice and I am not saying you must do the same.
Your tithe is 10% - not more, not less. Any amount you give besides the 10% of your tithe is an offering. For example, if your tithe is USD 18.30 and you don't want to break your money into small change, you just give USD 20.00. Then, USD 18.30 is your tithe and the rest is an offering. Also, if you want to change your money to make get the exact change for your tithe, try doing it without having to buy anything. If this is not possible, as a last resort, then go and buy something - what matters is that you have remembered to take out your tithe first and have done it immediately.
I used to tithe but I stopped. How can I get right with God again and pay back all tithes I owe?
Instead of worrying about the tithes you owe, start being faithful from now on. If you know the amount of tithe you owe and can afford to give it, so do it. But if you have simply lost count of it and cannot possibly put it right, just repent of your mistake and start being faithful to God immediately, forgetting the past. God will be more pleased with you your present faithfulness than unpleased with your past unfaithfulness.
3. Tithe and the church
What the church does with my tithe?
God established tithes not only for the purpose of blessing His people but also to provide for the needs of His House - "That there may be food in My House." (Malachi 3:10). Tithers are the financial pillars of God's House. It's because of their faithfulness that the Church can pay its existing expenses and plan to expand the work of God. Your tithes are directly used for these purposes.
Is there a specific day to bring my tithe to the church?
No, you may bring it any day and place it on the altar of the church. Normally, you should bring after setting your tithe aside, you should bring it to the church on your next visit. on your next visit to the church after setting it aside.
If you have a tithe to bring near the day when we consecrate the tithers (first Sunday of every month), then you may keep it to bring on that day. You should avoid keeping your tithe with you for too long to avoid the temptation to use it.
What is the meaning of tithers' consecration every month?
In the past, when a man was made king, he would be consecrated with oil, symbolising the authority he was receiving to rule and lead the nation. In the same way, when we consecrate the tithers today, it is to remind them of the authority they have from God to rule over the devourer and all financial problems.
"Then Samuel took the horn of Oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward." (1 Samuel 16:13; see also 2 Kings 9.6). Never miss the Consecration of Tithers on the first Sunday of every month.
Is my tithe a contribution I make for the church to do my funeral?
No, it is not. The Church does not check if deceased members were up-to-date with their tithe, because we believe this is a matter between them and God. A faithful member of the Church is baptised in water and will normally give tithe.
Funerals of baptised members of the Church who pass away will be conducted free of charge by the local pastor upon proper notice. However, the Church cannot offer financial help for the purpose, since tithing is not a funeral scheme.
4. Tithe and the world
Why not give the tithe to a charity in favour of the poor and needy? Why must I give it in the church?
Because God expressly said that tithes are for the maintenance of His House '...that there may be food in My House.' Tithe is the life-blood of the Church of the Lord Jesus. The Church cannot survive without it. That's why tithers are like the pillars of God's House.
By their faithfulness, souls can be saved through the work of evangelisation financed through the tithes. Your tithes should be given in the House of God because their primary purpose is to maintain it. The responsibility rests with the church authorities to decide whether after the needs of God's House have been met to use the remainder in aid of the poor.
However, if you wish to help the poor directly with money other than your tithe, you are free to do so.

THE LIES ABOUT TITHES
...........................
If the income is USD 150.00, you move the dot to the next digit on the left and it will be USD 15.00. This is the tithe.
ANYWAY, ONLY FARMERS AND PEOPLE WHO RAISED ANIMALS PAID TITHES. CARPENTERS LIKE JESUS AND FISHERMEN DID NOT PAY TITHES.
Abraham gave his tithes to Melchizedek, King of Salem - a tenth of all the spoils from the victory over his enemies,
THAT IS NOT A TITHE. THAT IS SPOILS OF WAR. DID ABRAHAM CONTINUE TO GIVE 10% AFTER THIS?NO NO NO! THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT ABRAHAM PAID TITHES.
What is the real meaning of tithe?
Tithe is the recognition of God's lordship over all things
TITHES WAS GODS WAY OF TAKING CARE OF THE POOR AND DESTITUTE IN SOCIETY. THE BIBLE SAYS INVITE THE ORPHANS, WIDOWS AND STRANGERS TO PARTAKE OF THE TITHES.
The deepest meaning of tithe is in the understanding that everything (100%) we have belongs to God. When we give Him the tithe (10% of everything), He releases the remaining 90% for our use
ACCORDING TO THE MOSAIC LAWS, THE TITHE IS FOR THE POOR AND DESTITUTE. THE LEVITES BECAUSE THEY WERE POOR AND HAD NO PROPERTY ALSO GOT SOME OF THE TITHES. TITHES WAS GOD'S WAY OF TAKING CARE OF THE NEEDY. NOT SOME WAY TO SQUEEZE POOR PEOPLE FOR THE BENFIT OF THE CLERGY. THIS RELEASING OF 90% IS JUST LIES TO FOOL THE POOR.
The purpose of the tithe was not to consecrate the harvest, but to 'de-consecrate' it, for everything belonged to God until the first portion AND THE LEVITES.
THE PURPOSE OF TITHES WAS TO MAKE THIS WORLD A FAIRER PLACE TO LIVE. THE ORPHANS AND WIDOWS HAD TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. IF THERE IS FOOD IN GOD'S HOUSE, THE POOR AND STRANGERS WOULD NOT GO HUNGRY. TITHES HELP POR PEOPLE LIKE ORPHANS, WIDOWS
What is the correct way to tithe?
THE POOR DID NOT TITHES. THE POOR RECEIVED TITHES. APART FROM FOOD AND ANIMALS, MONEY WAS NEVER USED AS TITHES IN THE ENTIRE BIBLE. MONEY WAS INTRODUCED BY THOSE WHO WANTED TO MILK THE POOR DRY.
The correct way to tithe is to set apart your 10% before you do anything with your money,
ANOTHER LIE. IF YOUR INCOME IS NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU AND YOUR FOUR KIDS DO NOT TITHE. TAKE CARE OF YOUR RENT AND KIDS SCHOOL FEES, AND FOOD FOR YOUR KIDS. REMEMBER, IF YOU ARE POOR, YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO TITHE. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST AFTER YOUR MONEY. THEY TWIST BIBLE VERSES TO GET YOUR MONEY.
Therefore, before you pay any bill or buy anything with the money you receive, first you must set apart the tithe
NO NO NO NO !!! FEED YOUR CHILDREN FIRST. PAY UR KID'S SCHOOL FEES. DONT GIVE UR MONEY TO THE CHURCH AND THEN GO BORROW MONEY TO EAT. NO NO NO ! DONT DO IT. THE BIBLE SAYS YOU ARE TO BE GIVEN TITHES DIF YOU ARE POOR. GOD DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE TITHES FROM THE POOR.
The practice of tithing exists existed since The the Creation, long before the Law of Moses. Then it was regulated by the Mosaic Law and further endorsed by the Lord Jesus. Abraham paid tithe, Jacob paid tithe
LIES, LIES AND LIES. ABRAHAM DID NOT PAY TITHES. JACOB PAID A CONDITIONAL 10% WHICH IS NOT TITHES. THE TIEHS IF THE MIDDLE EAST WAS NOT HE MOSAIC TITHES FROM YAHWEH.
The Pharisees used to give tithe even of the little herbs,
BEFORE CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED, WE WERE UNDER THE LAW. AFTER CHRIST WE ARE UNDER GRACE, NO THE LAW. THE TITHE LAW DOES NOT HOLD AFTER THE DEATH OF CHRIST.
The tithe belongs to God and therefore it is the responsibility of the Church's Ministers not to use the tithes for any purpose other than for the work of God. NO NO NO !! ANOTHER FALSEHOOD. TITHES WAS NOT FOR PASTOR'S CAR OR CHURCH FURNITURE. TITHES WAS FOR THE POOR IN SOCIETY, FOOD FOR THE ORPHANS AND WIDOWS. THA IS WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS. TITHES WAS NOT FOR PRINTING GOSPEL TRACTS, IT WAS FOOD FOR THE POOR AND DESTITUTE.
"A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD." (Leviticus 27:30).
YES, TITHE WAS ONLY FOOD AND ANIMALS. YOU CANNOT TITHE FICH FROM THE SEA OR A CARPENTER'S CHAIR OR A GOLD CHAIN OR PICK AXE.
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse - the whole nation of you - because you are robbing me." (Malachi 3:8,9).
THIS VERSE ONLY REFERS TO THE LEVITES. GOD WAS SPEAKING TO THE LEVITES, UNDER THE OLD CONVENANT. TOO MANY CHRISTIANS HAV BEEN TEERRORISED WITH THIS VERSE. THE DPRIESTS WERE THE ONES WHO WERE STEALING FROM GOD.
because without tithes, the saving message of the Gospel could not have reached you.
MANY CHURCHES DONT PAY TITHES BUT THEY SPREAD GOD'S MESSAGE ALRIGHT. THE APOSTLES SPREAD THE MESSAGE WITHOUR ANY TITHES. JESUS SPREAD HIS GOSPEL WITHOUT TAKING TITHES FROM ANYONE
GOD SAYS DONT TAKE TITHES FROM THE POOR. GOD SAYS GIVE THE TITHES TO THE POOR. GOD DID NOT SAY TAKE THE LITTLE MONEY FROM THE POOR AND THEN TELL THEM ABOUT MIRACLES. GOD WANTS THE POOR TO BE PHYSICALLY TAKEN CARE OF. STOP THE MIRACLE STORIES AND DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. PASTORS TAKE THE TITHES PHYSICALLY BUT THEY WANT THE POOR TO GET IT SIRITUALLY. THIS IS ROBBERY AND SINFUL.
THIS WHY EUROPEANS ARE LEAVING THE CHURCH IN DROVES. THIS EXPLOITATION AND BRAIN-WASHING IS NOT WAHT JESUS PREACHED. THIS IS EXTORTION, THIS IS SINFUL.
.
No one lives on nothing, so everyone can and should tithe (even beggars can tithe from the donations money they receive!).
O MY GOODNESS ! EVEN BEGGARS MUST TITHE? THIS IS EVIL ! THIS IS CRIMINAL! THE BIBLE SAYS THE POOR DO NOT TITHE. YOU GIVE THE TITHES TO THE BEGGARS, NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.
SO AFTER THE BEGGAR RECEIVES THE TITHES, HE GIVES IT BACK TO THE CHURCH? WHAT GOSPEL IS THIS?
If you are unemployed, in debt or financially broke, now is the time to start tithing because this is the only way God can change your situation. Don't wait until you can afford to tithe; put God to the test now and see Him opening the windows of heaven upon you. ,
NO NO NO!!! THIS IS THE TIME THE CHURCH HAS TO GIVE YOU MONEY TO SURVIVE. PEOPLE LIKE THESE WERE GIVEN TITHES IN THE BIBLE. THESE FALSE PASTORS ARE KILLING THEGOSPEL OF CHRIST. THERE IS NO COMPASSION, ONLY GREED.
Tithers are the financial pillars of God's House. It's because of their faithfulness that the Church can pay its existing expenses and plan to expand the work of God. Your tithes are directly used for these purposes.
THAT IS NOT THE PURPOSE OF TITHES. THAT MIGHT BE UR PURPOSE, BUT IT IS NOT THE PURPOSE OF GOD. THE PURPOSE OF TITHES IS TO FEED THE POOR AND HUNGRY. THA IS WHAT THE LEVITICAL LAWS SAY.
Because God expressly said that tithes are for the maintenance of His House '...that there may be food in My House.'
YES, LITERALLY FOOD IN THE TEMPLE. FOOD FOR THE ORPHANS, WIDOW, BEGARS AND POOR LEVITES. TITHES WAS USED TO PHYSICALLY, PRAGMATICALLY TAKE CARE OF THE POOR IN ANCIENT ISRAELITE SOCIETY. THAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF TITHES.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10 percent of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle/Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent, not the 10 percent which is generally considered the tithe amount today. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system. The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says it is to be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Some in the Christian church have taken the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving. The New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing and/or how much to give (James 1:5). Above all, all tithes and offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

There isn't a single 'pastor' in a Ghanaian evangelical church that is not a scammer. None. These are wolves preying on the sheep. Here in North America we call them hustlers. Or snake oil salesmen. But as Barnum said there is a sucker born everyday. In the case of Ghanaians suckers every are born every minute. In my recent visit I told one of the sheep Jesus was not a Christian and she nearly collapsed. When I said olive oil is not holy by an definition and that we use it to cook like regular oil, she was shocked. In her world olive oil is sold as blessed and special oil.
Ignorance and illiteracy is the reason these scammers continue to thrive. Like the pests or parasites, they'll continue to suck them dry until death. It's always funny listening to a Ghanaian quote Paul's letters to Corinthian, Galatians etc. What they miss is none was addressed to them. There is no letter from Paul to Ghanaians.
Finally the nerve of these scammers is supported by a class of aspiring pickpocket, who bide their time until the can open their own scamming shop, who surround these scammers. They use intimidation to keep the sheep in line. It is why Ghana is in the pits. Corrupt people have found a way to sway their guilt by using religious text and words. Nyame this and Nyame that. All they while taking bribes and destroying others.

Do you know anything about African religious beliefs in general and Akan religion in particular? We Akans believe in the supreme being, which appears in the triad of Nyankopon/Nyame/Odumankoma, which we worship through Abosom (deities), whom were created and are working for the Supreme Being and Nananom Samanfo (the ancestors), who are closer to both the living and spiritual world. Just as you cannot talk to a Chief directly, but through his linguist. The same way, you do not address the supreme God of the Akan directly.
How dare you to describe any other religion than Christianity as demonic? Is Buddhism demonic? Is Daoism demonic? Is Hindusim demonic? Is Judaism demonic? If not, why are you considering African traditional religious belief or ancient indigenous beliefs in general as demonic? I wonder when Christians will stop claiming hegemony over all other religions. No one will ever christianize me. The only type of Christianity which has its legitimacy in Africa is Ethopian Christianity (i.e. Ethopian Orthodox Church), which was there long before white man set foot on african soil.
Christians do make sacrifices, during any holy communion they are drinking the blood of Jesus Christ. The Latin word sacrificium, ‘sacrifice’, is derived from sacrum facere, "to make holy". In Catholic liturgy, to make something holy is to set it apart by "consecration". The Christians use this word for the central moment of the Mass when the priest says the words of Jesus Christ at the Last Supper over the bread and wine in front of an altar. There do exist various occult symbols and items, on top of it the legend of the holy grail. Christianity its by his history one of the cruelest religions. How many people have died in the name of Christ, Christianity and Catholicism? Thousands and millions were killed, who refused to accept Christianity and their holy places being destroyed.Entire cities had been wiped out in the name of Christianity. Not to mention the numerous religious wars i.e. Catholic extermination camps,Catholic terror in Vietnam,Rwanda Massacres (where the catholic church had been actively involved) of course it does not end there, it goes on with the killings of Indians in South America etc.
If one really has a problem with his/her own culture, then he must stop practising it! That person must stop in performing Akan naming ceremonies, stop conducting funerals in the Akan fashion, stop pouring libation, stop engaging in Akan festivals such as Akwasidae, stop the practise of customary marriages, even stop bearing an Akan soul/day names, since they have a spiritual connection to the cosmology of the Akan people. They must also avoid praising Nyame/Nyankopon since this is how the Akans referred to their creator. They must stop practising all aspects of their culture. One cannot say I embrace my culture, but I reject the spiritual aspect of it. This is not possible, one does not exist without the other.

It is unfortunate that what makes the press are always wrong doings and generally bad stuff. When saying these things we don't remember to say or give good examples too. Pastors who behave the way described here should not close our eyes from those who behave well too. When I was an undergraduate going to my third year, it was my pastor who bought me 3 materials for making cloth and a substantially amount of money which was enough for making them and still have more in my pocket. I have been in his house with his family members one day when a brother visited and told him he has not enough money for finishing up what he came to do, he put his hand in his pocket and gave him the money he has and the brother left. Not up to 5 minutes the wife requested for money to buy oil for cooking. He put his hand in his pocket and brought it out and said don't worry about the oil now later when I get money I give you for it. It just dawned on me that he gave his last money to the visitor cheerfully. That has made an impression in me that I still carry till today that though there bad pastors, there are still many good ones who are out there doing there good works without anyone noticing it or talking about it yet the bad ones always make the headlines. Just of recent this same pastor I am talking about had kidney issue, it was a voluntary donor who gave one of his kidneys that he is using now to live. There are fatherless students he is paying their school fees, there are widows he is regularly paying stipend and those who could do business he opened for them. These are all what I saw this pastor doing I did not say someone told me because I was close enough to be his children's extramural lessons teacher. It is also in his life that I have seen the demonstration of the biblical injunction (give & it shall be given unto you, good measure pressed together and running over) He is a giver and people are giving him too. One of those his children I was teaching was picked up by someone and to Canada and trained him as a pilot without one dime from the father's purse. I met one brother at a retreat ground many years ago and he told me that before he was not a Christian but that it was a Christian policeman who brought him to Christ. Then he was jobless and this policeman after preaching to him will buy him food and at a point when he saw how desperate his condition was took him to a nearby supermarket and told the owner anything this man buys from here, put it on my bill: I will pay you by month end. He said what marvelled him was at times he will collect very big items that the man himself wont even buy because of the price but that the man will simply smile and pay for them at month end. He said it was this practical expression of love made him take the man's message seriously and he gave his life to Christ.

I believe there is a supreme being, but I doubt if it is the god that is being paraded around as jesus.
Come to think about, African traditional religion may be the real deal. The whiteman will tell you our religion is paganism, vodoo etc. But hey, they work.
Communities are careful not to commit crimes because when summoned to some of these shrines, you are dead meat. Now that works!

After all, what have you done for God to warrant any blessings from Him?
Please read Malachi 3:6-12 for the reason why Believers must pay their tithes. It's for our own good here on earth.God does not owe anybody.

Brother Emmanuel
I totally agree with your entire article as on my recent visit to Ghana talked with a freind who is a christian and on making a statment that the church was a business i was met with a resounding "no it is not"
So i pointed out to my freind that as a seamstress who runs a business do you charge your customers for the goods they want she replied yes. So i asked what do you pay to the church each month below is what i was told
If you are single you pay
If you are married you pay
If you are an elder you pay
Building programme you pay
If you are in a Womens group you pay
If you are in a mens group you pay
Your birth month group you pay
And finally your monthly Tithes you pay
When my freind finished with the above list i asked her is this not how a business operates?
She laughed and said yes
Unfortunateley Africans (and other cultures) are so blinded with this religion that they cannot think or see rationally for themselves and of course the stigma of back sliding or not paying will not go down well with the congregation and your christian freinds.
Keep up the good work

Some who profess to be Christians are 'dead' and not Christianity. I know, when some of these so called investigative journalists want to come to the limelight, they tackle topics that are too much for them; especially social and religious topics that entails a lot of research. This author, sitting in his cozy office after one or two experiences, taking its sources from girl friends come out with this baffling conclusion that ridicules their profession. Please spare us these spurious articles and just note that nothing can be done about what he is saying about pastors as long as we have these ignorant and dubious people in the community. Well probably education can minimize the havoc.
