There is a hadith about the forbidding of killing women and children adn people in monestaries even during war:
Abu Bakr As-Siddique (R) is reported to have commanded Usama ibne Zaid (R):

BLESSINGS OF ISHMAEL AND ISAAC
Was the first born son of Abraham (Ishmael) and his descendants included in God's covenant and promise? A few verses from the Bible may help shed some light on this question;
1) Genesis 12:2-3 speaks of God's promise to Abraham and his descendants before any child was born to him.
2) Genesis 17:4 reiterates God's promise after the birth of Ishmael and before the birth of Isaac.
3) In Genesis, ch. 21. Isaac is specifically blessed but Ishmael was also specifically blessed and promised by God to become "a great nation" especially in Genesis 21:13, 18.
4) According to Deuteronomy 21:15-17 the traditional rights and privileges of the first born son are not to be affected by the social status of his mother (being a "free" woman such as Sarah, Isaac's mother, or a "Bondwoman" such as Hagar, Ishmael's mother). This is only consistent with the moral and humanitarian principles of all revealed faiths.
5) The full legitimacy of Ishmael as Abraham's son and "seed" and the full legitimacy of his mother, Hagar, as Abraham's wife are clearly stated in Genesis 21:13 and 16:3. After Jesus, the last Israelite messenger and prophet, it was time that God's promise to bless Ishmael and his descendants be fulfilled. Less than 600years after Jesus, came the last messenger of God, Muhammad, from the progeny of Abraham through Ishmael. God's blessing of both of the main branches of Abraham's family tree was now fullfilled. But are there additional corroborating evidence that the Bible did in fact foretell the advent of prophet Muhammad?
MUHAMMAD:
The Prophet Like Unto Moses
Long time after Abraham, God's promise to send the long-awaited Messenger was repeated this time in Moses' words.
In Deuteronomy 18:18, Moses spoke of the prophet to be sent by God who is:
1) From among the Israelite's "brethren", a reference to their Ishmaelite cousins as Ishmael was the other son of Abraham who was explicitly promised to become a "great nation".
2) A prophet like unto Moses. There were hardly any two prophets ,who were so much alike as Moses and Muhammad. Both were given comprehensive law code of life, both encountered their enemies and were victors in miraculous ways, both were accepted as prophets/statesmen and both migrated following conspiracies to assassinate them. Analogies between Moses and Jesus overlooks not only the above similarities but other crucial ones as well (e.g. the natural birth, family life and death of Moses and Muhammad but not of Jesus, who was regarded by His followers as the Son of God and not exclusively a messenger of God, as Moses and Muhammad were and as Muslim belief Jesus was).
THE AWAITED PROPHET WAS TO COME FROM ARABIA
Deuteronomy 33:1-2 combines references to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. It speaks of God (i.e. God's revelation) coming from Sinai, rising from Seir (probably the village of Sa'ir near Jerusalem) and shining forth from Paran. According to Genesis 21:21, the wilderness of Paran was the place where Ishmael settled (i.e. Arabia, specifically Mecca).
Indeed the King James version of the Bible mentions the pilgrims passing through the valley of Ba'ca (another name of Mecca) in Psalms 84:4-6.
Isaiah 42:1-13 speaks of the beloved of God. His elect and messenger who will bring down a law to be awaited in the isles and who "shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgement on earth." Verse 11, connects that awaited one with the descendants of Ke'dar. Who is Ke'dar? According to Genesis 25:13, Ke'dar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of prophet Muhammad.
MUHAMMAD'S MIGRATION FROM MECCA TO MEDINA:
PROPHECIED IN THE BIBLE?
Habakkuk 3:3 speaks of God (God's help) coming from Te'man (an Oasis North of Medina according to J. Hasting's Dictionary of the Bible), and the holy one (coming) from Paran. That holy one who under persecution migrated from Paran (Mecca) to be received enthusiastically in Medina was none but prophet Muhammad.
Indeed the incident of the migration of the prophet and his persecuted followers is vividly described in Isaiah 21:13-17. That section foretold as well about the battle of Badr in which the few ill-armed faithful miraculously defeated the "mighty" men of Ke'dar, who sought to destroy Islam and intimidate their own folks who turned -to Islam.
THE QUR'AN (KORAN) FORETOLD IN THE BIBLE?
For twenty-three years, God's words (the Qur'an) were truely put into Muhammad's mouth. He was not the "author" of the Qur'an. The Qur'an was dictated to him by Angel Gabriel who asked Muhammad to simply repeat the words of the Qur'an as he heard them. These words were then committed to memory and to writing by those who hear them during Muhammad's life time and under his supervision.
Was it a coincidence that the prophet "like unto Moses" from the "brethren" of the Israelites (i.e. from the lshmaelites) was also described as one in whose mouth God will put his words and that he will speak in the name of God, (Deuteronomy 18:18-20). Was it also a coincidence the "Paraclete" that Jesus foretold to come after Him was described as one who "shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak (John 16:13)
Was it another coincidence that Isaiah ties between the messenger connected with Ke'dar and a new song (a scripture in a new language) to be sang unto the Lord (Isaiah 42:10-11). More explicitly, prophesies Isaiah "For with stammering lips, and another tongue, will he speak to this people" (Isaiah 28:11). This latter verse correctly describes the "stammering lips" of Prophet Muhammad reflecting the state of tension and concentration he went through at the time of revelation. Another related point is that the Qur'an was revealed in piece-meals over a span of twenty three years. It is interesting to compare this with Isaiah 28:10 whichspeaks of the same thing.
THAT PROPHET- PARACLETE- MUHAMMAD
Up to the time of Jesus (peace be upon him), the Israelites were still awaiting for that prophet like unto Moses prophecied in Deuteronomy 18:18. When John the Baptist came, they asked him if he was Christ and he said "no". They asked him if he was Elias and he said "no". Then, in apparent reference to Deuteronomy 18:18, they asked him "Art thou that Prophet" and he answered, "no". (John 1: 1 9-2 1).
In the Gospel according to John (Chapters 14, 15, 16) Jesus spoke of the "Paraclete" or comforter who will come after him, who will be sent by Father as another Paraclete, who will teach new things which the contemporaries of Jesus could not bear. While the Paraclete is described as the spirit of truth, (whose meaning resemble Muhammad's famous title Al-Amin, the trustworthy), he is identified in one verse as the Holy Ghost (John 14:26). Such a designation is however inconsistent with the profile of that Paraclete. In the words of the Dictionary of the Bible, (Ed. J. Mackenzie) "These items, it must be admitted do not give an entirely coherent picture."
Indeed history tells us that many early Christians understood the Paraclete to be a man and not a spirit. This might explain the followings who responded to some who claimed, without meeting the criteria stipulated by Jesus, to be the awaited "Paraciete".
It was Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who was the Paraclete, Comforter, helper, admonisher sent by God after Jesus. He testified of Jesus, taught new things which could not be borne at Jesus' time, he spoke what he heard (revelation), he dwells with the believers (through his well-preserved teachings). Such teachings will remain forever because he was the last messenger of God, the only Universal Messenger to unite the whole of humanity under God and on the path of PRESERVED truth. He told of many things to come which "came to pass" in the minutest detail meeting, the criterion given by Moses to distinguish between the true prophet and the false prophets (Deuteronomy 18:22). This man was born in december 1936, and he is 76 years old, one can understand their own deceptive games of theory-gy or theory lies. Where, vehicles and cell phones are used to wipe out true gospel messages. It sounds like the false prophet, organising the vehicles and cell phone users everyday from remote to go against the servant of the Lord God, who explains all the prophecy. The explainer is not afraid of their scarecrows, running to the sea and back to change themselves, or the statement that the person who explain the prophecy is the devil because he has broken seven seals. Explaining scriptures is broken seals? Then the apostles all broke seals. It is a lie of scarecrow to prevent bible readers to know who is who, who are already in positions of trust, but creepy. Undrstanding the prophecy is important to the up and coming youth and future generation as much as the gospel is concern. Discarding it understanding is to be of service to the Lord God. The prophecy was put there for a purpose, it is not separate from the rest of the gospel messages.
Joseph and Daniel explained dreams and prophecies did not broke seals and they were men of God. How can a devil understands God's dreams and prophecies. Only men of God can have the insight to do that.

The only question I have for you is that it looks as if Muslims just have a problem living with non Muslims all over the world wheter they are Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhist, Pagans or whatever. Skirmishes can occur in all regions and with ppl all over the world but difficulties others face when living with Muslims is just too evident.
Every time I look on TV Muslims are always rioting and burning anything that can burn. Ready to fight, and they all act the same. Why it it so?
They seems to be at odds with modernity, they are struggling to fit in the new world we live in and are trying very hard to keep things the way they were in the 4th century.
Terrorism can occur anywhere and in any religion yet almost all the modern day terrorist are Muslims. Most ppl kill but you dont see them doing it in the name of God or yelling God is great whiles killing their victims, its only done by Muslims in the name of GOD.
Minorities in all Muslim dominated societies are just struggling to survive or they migrate elsewhere yet Muslims have absolute freedom to live where ever they choose on this Earth and do so in peace.
These are a few questions I have for u as a non Muslims observing from afar.

I kinda feel the same way while you put in a very scriptured and detailed statement about Islam and it's view on Christianity I have something in my heart when it comes Islamic people and Arabs in particular and it has to do with slavery. Yes I know slavery is as old as the Bible itself but, as an African-American I have serious grievances with the effect of slavery as practiced by Arabs as they spread their doctrine of Islam. Over 140 Million dead Africans plus the surviving Africans of which I descend from. The Christian religion exhorts us to pray for our enemies and I shall pray for you and I hope you will do the same for me. But my ancestors cry out for the abuses visited on them by those purveyors of Islam who lack the basic respect embraced by other religions many of whom freed they slaves and fought to abolish it as bad, and wrong Islam never did. One other thing and this too is based on my observation only not the words of a Shiite Moslem scholar on Slavery. Why oh Why is there such quiet from the Islamic community on terror. See qouting the Koran is nice but if the majority of your people lack the desire to stand in front of the world and denounce terror as wrong then why believe that's what your God preaches. Time and time again we see this. Muslim keep their silence on these type of killings but you can't pick a newspaper in my country without seeing condemnation of a madmen who kills innocent people. Witness what in happening in Nigeria right now with the killing of Foreigners. Know why their no Moslems demonstrating that this type of killing is wrong? I'll tell you. They keep their silence because they don't seem capable of coming to condemn that which they should. They would hide under scarves and blankets than condemn violence these things bother me greatly wish some Muslim would tell me why.

It's clear that Abraham's seed will go through Isaac.
Then you mentioned about the Ba'ca in Psalms 84:4-6 which the muslim believe is the Mecca where actually it is not.The pilgrims in Psalm 84 are certainly not on their way to Mecca, as their destination is given as Zion. Mount Zion is one of the hills on which Jerusalem is founded. In the Bible Zion is often used synonymously with Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:2).
The Ka'aba is empty and certainly no humans dwell in it. Yet Psalm 84 mentions those who dwell in God's house. This makes no sense unless it is the Jerusalem temple, which had rooms within its courts (1 Chronicles 28:11,12) for those who were responsible for its upkeep and ceremony.
In either case, their pilgrimage is clearly to Jerusalem, as evidenced by the rest of the psalm. Why on earth would Jews, living in Israel and on their way to Jerusalem, take a huge detour through Mecca?
There are many explaination to tackle your other points above but i think these two should be enough. Next time be more careful when figuring verses from the Bible.

Even though I must confess that most zongo communities are generally seen as violent and shanty it does not go to say Islam is violent. As to confess with lips without total submission to true doctrine of either religions would be null and void. That goes to say many people who claim to be Moslems , attend Moslem activities might not be in fact true Moslem. To do a Moslem is to be a messenger of peace any thing contrary would be a falsehood. Just as to be a Christian mean one whose life mimick that of The Lord Jesus Christ. I do agree with you suggestions but I would also wish to add that Muslim education should be open to carefully teach the FATWAS in a way not to stimulate hatred and ignorance. But in all, I applaud your piece.

Don’t you think the Boko Haram group are rather the TRUE MOSLEMS who are obeying their prophet? I know the Boko Haram group have warned Christian that they will have no peace until they convert to Islam. So far as Moslems are concerned, anyone not a Moslem is a pagan or infidel.
One of my biggest problems with the Qur’an is the many Abrogation in the pages of the Qur’an. How can an All knowing God give a revelation at one time and later give another revelation that is the very opposite of the first one? Look at these verses below for example:

Sura 9:29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that
forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

I will like to take this opportunity to advise you that it matters so much to God as to how humanity can come to a knowledge of HIM.
It is the responsibility of every individual, no matter the religious affiliation of his or her upbringing, to find time and investigate. The fact that you are brought up even in a Christian environment does not necessarily make you one. A time has to come in your adulthood to receive Christ. When you receive Christ, it would be evident in your confession. Making the necessary effort to be baptised by immersion will crown it all. I always recommend a living BIble believing Church, where you are challenged to study the WORD and commited to prayers.
We are to be sure of all things. God has given us Eternal Life, and that Life is in Christ, the Son God. This promise(and many others) to mankind cannot be found in any writings apart from the inspired Scriptures of the Jewish apostles.
Jesus Christ must be recognised and acknowledged as in the Scriptures.
He is the Son of God(True God who once established a covenant with Israel). Jesus, himself, said Salvation is of the Jew.
The saving justice (Salvation) of God has come through the instrumentaility of the Jewish people(for they were entrusted with the ORACLES or sacred commitments of God), in general, and Jesus Christ in particular.
Whoever is not of Christ is not of his. God's promise for humanity is so important and significant that one cannot sit down unconcerned.
Knowledge is required. The writings of Moses, the Prophets and Psalms all pointing to Christ, even as JESUS declared.
Jesus, prior to his ascension declared that the world do not know God, and that Jesus has come in the name of the Father that God may be known. And there is no name under the heaven given among men that we may be saved except the name JESUS CHRIST, the saviour who is the SON of God.
A lot of the Biblical events took place in the Middle East, and therefore it is no surprise that names of Patriachs may appear here and there in other documents. The believer in Christ should guard himself or herself with the knowledge of Jesus as expressed in the Scriptures(Bible).
One cannot compromise with writings and teachings which falls short of what we have received.
Jesus, himself, says "This GOOD NEWS of the Kingdom" shall be preached to humanity to the most distant part of the world and the end will come.
Which GOOD NEWS was Christ referring to? The very message that he handed down to the apostles while on earth.
Ladies and gentlemen. on that day one can not be excused for being ignorant.The Scriptures is clear about that. It is a choice that one has to make.
God says "I have set before you LIFE and DEATH. Choose LIFE that you may live".
BIBLICAL JESUS IS THE WAY, TRUTH AND LIFE.

The seed is first mentioned after the fall of man, as in Genesis 3.
God promised Abraham that is is by means of you that whole world would be blessed. This is the promise that God gave to Abraham after Abraham passed the test of faith in his readiness to sacrifice Isaac.
If Abraham was prepared to sacrifice Isaac(after Ismael and mother had left the family), then God was one day going to offer his Son as the real sacrifice for humanity, and that Son would come to the earth from the line of Abraham through Isaac.
Please read Mathew. on account, of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the promised SEED.
Indeed, through Abraham, the whole world (mankind) is blessed. However, you must receive the blessing, for it is yours for the taking. God will not force it on you. He said I have set before you Life and Death. Choose Life that you may live. Jesus himself said that WHOEVER believes. Your Baptism and your confession of Christ matters a lot.
Also, do not be deceived by expressions like Abrahamic religions. There is only one Faith and one Baptism. Abraham himself spoke prophetically about Christ on the way to mountain moriah when he told Isaac that God would provide the lamb. And God did provide the lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world.
The line of Truth runs from the OT to the NT. Jesus Christ read and quoted from the Hebrew scriptures and ascribed the writings to himself. Indeed he came in the volume of the Scriptures.
Paul, prophetically, wrote that if anyone comes and present a Christ different from what we have received, even if an angel, let that person be accursed. Therefore, anything short of that cannot be compromised.
My humble advice to you is that think about your life and that of your family as to whether they have given their lifes to Christ and get BAPTISED by immersion.

This writer has done a great job to educate and disabuse the prejudice, calculated and naively waged against islam. And from some of the comments I have read it appears they are so wedged in their hate for islam that any authentic article espousing the best of islam and what it stands for is taken with scorn. I hail from salaga were the presby churh and central mosque are about 30m apart and I am sure it is no exception. Muslims and christians are mates, friends and love each. The mallams and priest, catholic fathers have respect for each other as partners and responsible people for the community and work to uplift the spiritual needs of its people.
