Religion is to free the conscience of man from mental and spiritual enslavement, it is supposed to make us bold, hardworking and wise because it teaches one basic philosophy, you are only answerable to God. You have to fear God and worship Him only. This means everything else is below the ranks of man and therefore man should not bow to it. In Ghana we need to teach liberation theology to people.
Modern pastors are just a new breed of the Mallams and Akomfos.

We will continue to wallow in the quagmire of underdevelopment and poverty if we do not appreciate the fact that the white man who brought us his bible does not take it literally as we do. They only used it in their development programme to subdue nations they needed to exploit. Come to think of it, our pastors today are using the same strategy. They scare the vulnerable with feelings of guilt and eternal damnation and profess to be the way to their salvation and in so doing convince them to part with their hard-earned monies. Talk about end-times is all crap. Our time on Earth ends when we take our last breath. What matters is how we endeavour to make this World a better place during our lifetime. Rational and critical thinking will enable people to avoid the machinations of these so-called men and women of God.

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear" (Matthew 13:36-43).
