Preaching about Jesus not a competition – Presby Chair cautions modern-day ‘prophets’

The Sekyere Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Daniel Osei Bediako-Akoto has advised modern-day prophets to eschew behaviours that tend to portray the priesthood as a competition but rather focus on winning souls for Jesus Christ, MyNewsGh.com reports.

This is on the backdrop of the recent show of opulence and trading of verbal jabs by some prophets on social media and even in the church before their congregations to show who is superior to the other.

“It shouldn’t be so because our mandate is to win souls for the Lord; it doesn’t matter how large or small your ministry is but what is important is to preach the gospel for people to repent because at the end of the day, you want to win souls for heaven; so it’s an emerging difficulty that we would have to pray against”, he told Mynewsgh.com on the sidelines of an Induction Service at Juaben in the Ashanti region on Sunday.

It was the Induction Service for Rev Abronoma Nyarko-Anti as the new District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Juaben District after he was transferred from a similar position at Wiamoase two months ago.

Rev Abronoma Nyarko who spoke with MyNewsGh.com after the well-attended service said apart from his pastoral duties, he would prioritize sanitation in the Juaben Community by organizing the youth of the church to do regular clean-up exercises in the town.

The Juaben District Minister is also the President of Sekyere Minister’s Fellowship, Chaplain of the Sekyere Presbytery Men’s Fellowship and Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations.
