Accra Academy tops GMSA Greater Accra Dawah Competition

The Accra Academy has emerged as the winners of the Dawah Competition organized by the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA), Greater Accra Regional Secretariat, Zone 4, held during the weekend at the auditorium of Al-Basar SHS located at Awoshie in Accra.

The competition witnessed eight Senior High Schools making presentations on various topics and with a total of 92.66, Accra Academy managed to beat their neighbours, Kaneshie Technical Senior High School (KATECO).

The Bleoo Boys stormed the premises of Al-Basar SHS with the highest supporters and determined to revenge a painful defeat they suffered from the hands of the host school in their previous encounter.

At the end of the competition, Accra Academy, represented by Abdul Razak Abdul Mumin, made a presentation on the topic "Haram Relationship in Islam" and magnificently pulled 92.66 points to emerge as winners.

The second position went to Kaneshie Technical Senior High school represented by Yasir Musah who spoke on the topic "Zina (fornication in Islam" and had 80.33 points. Al-Basar SHS came third with 75.66 and was represented by Mujahid Suleiman who made a presentation on the topic "Drug Abuse in the light of Islam".

The fourth and fifth positions went to Seidu of Ebenezer SHS with 64.33 points and Alhassan Adiamah of Ngleshie Amanfrom SHS with 62.33 points respectively. The only girls' school in the competition was Accra Wesley Girls SHS represented by Hawawu Ishak Safari who had 56 points to occupy the sixth position.

Further, Haadi Alhassan of Christian Methodist SHS accumulated 55.66 points and Khidir Bin Hussein of Ordogonor SHS had 51 points occupying the seventh and eighth positions respectively.

The judges for the programme commended the GMSA Zone 4 Coordinator for putting up such a wonderful programme. The Chairman for the occasion, also being the Assistant Headmaster of Al-Basar SHS commended all the contestants for their presentations and further urged all the other students to learn from what their colleagues had presented.

In an interaction with Abdul Razak Abdul Mumin, he expressed joy for his performance and attributed his outputs to focusing on important areas.

"It's very good because when you want to do something, you start practising at the early stages...This will serve as a milestone for me. This will help me. It will encourage me to do more".

"At first, I wrote a lot of things but when I came and heard that they will give us only 15 minutes, I decided to take some things out. I decided to talk about only the important things in my paper," he added.

In attendance were some parents and the representatives of Alhaaq Dawah Youth Movement who presented valuable books to both the contestants and the entire students. All deserving contestants were presented with prizes.

The Al-Basar SHS auditorium was filled to capacity and some had to resort to catching glimpse of the proceedings through the windows. It's worthy to note that the general conduct of students was commendable as they comported themselves very well.
