“God calls imperfect persons He finds something perfect in them that he could use to deliver the message. By dotting on that, he gradually removes the impurities in the person’s life”.

That was the statement made by the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Reverend Titus Awotwe Pratt at the commissioning of 24 lay evangelists in Kumasi during the weekend.

Most Reverend Pratt says, if a person is truly called and determined to be a pastor, or minister of the gospel, his entire life changes over time.
According to the presiding bishop, his father did not think he would become a minister because he was bit of a 'bad boy' in his hay days.

“Among my father’s children, I was the one he thought I would never become a minister.” He said.

He continued, “I didn’t become perfect instantly and I can’t claim to be perfect now. The lord is still working in me’.

Most reverend Pratt was speaking at the commissioning of 24 lay evangelists in Kumasi on Sunday.

It is parts of efforts by the Methodist Church to propagate the word of God and champion the building of churches.
The evangelists have effectively completed the prescribed courses to obey God’s call into evangelism.

All the twenty newly sworn-in evangelists have taken an oath to pay attention to the church’s directives and provisions.
They have also prayed that, the LORD guides and strengthens them for the task ahead.
Director of evangelism, mission and renewal, Very Rev. Samuel-Aidoo Boateng says the evangelists would be supported financially and logically to deliver their mandate.

He indicated the church’s support to them both spiritually and physically.
“Each of them will be given at least, a motorbike and allowances for the task ahead.” Very rev. Boateng adds.

The 24 evangelists came from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Volta, and Central regions.

Meanwhile, the Methodist Church of Ghana's 2016-2020 vision to build 300 churches in Volta, Northern, and the upper regions, in the name of God, is on course.

Most Reverend Titus Awotwe Pratt tells journalists that, close to 200 churches have already been built in Volta, other parts of the country and therefore, the target is achievable.

“All over the dioceses we have built nearly two hundred churches.” Most Reverend Pratt indicated.
