Partnership Poverty Reduction to establish fertilizer factory in Yendi

A non-governmental organization (NGO) Partnership Poverty Reduction has announced plans of establishing a fertilizer factory in Yendi.

The project according to PPR is to complement the governments' efforts at reducing the high levels of unemployed youth in the Northern Region.

According to the founder of PPR, Farouk Aliu Mahama, 80% of Yendi’s population is engaged in farming.

He said the project would provide relief for farmers and also create job opportunities for the youth in the area.

“We have done the needed the assessment for construction of a fertiliser plant and to set up one for weedicides and anti-snake venom, this would ease the burden of farmers and support them to increase their production in the agriculture sector in order to eradicate poverty in the area.” He said.

The project is expected to commence in September next year.

The PPR is focused on agriculture, education, and women empowerment.

This year, the PPR has supported over nine hundred farmers in the Northern Region with agricultural tools, including 2,400 bottles of weedicides, 800 bags of fertilizer, 600 pieces of cutlasses, 600 wellington boots and 400 bottles of anti-snake venom
