Private schools urged to register with GES

Obogu (Ash), Dec 24, GNA - Mr Fabian Belieb, Asante-Akim South District Director of Education, has stressed the need for private schools to register with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to qualify for government assistance. He pointed out that education was a basic right especially for children and said that it was imperative for private schools to register with the GES for the benefit of their students. This was stated in a speech read for him at an Open Day and Fund-raising ceremony for the Saint Joseph Preparatory School at Obogu, in the Ashanti region on Wednesday. He said that the government appreciated the role of private schools and urged their managements to take advantage of the various government interventions.

The District Director called on them not only to render quality education but to also provide the infrastructure necessary to boost academic work. He noted that knowledge was the best legacy parents could bequeath to their children and advised them to invest in their education. Mr Joseph Senyo, Proprietor of the School, appealed to parents to complement the efforts of teachers by ensuring that they studied at home. The Proprietor said he established the school as his contribution towards the efforts to raise the standard of education in the District.
