The situation of lack of access to potable drinking water at Tolon district in the Northern Region has reached a crescendo, putting a big toil on residence.

A concerned citizen of the area who doubles as the former President of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), Abdul Rahman Dignity has raised serious concerns with regards the lack of potable drinking water in the area.

He lamented that the water crises at Tolon was not only an eye saw but gravely affecting the economic and social lives of the people.

He noted that, it was a well-known fact to every concerned member of the district and its environs that the district has been suffering from the same crisis for decades now.

The young man who recently visited the area says it's so surprising for a district of that caliber to suffer a problem of this nature for over 27 years.

In his own way, the former student leader launched a borehole fundraising project to solicit for support in an attempt to address the challenge.

“Tolon District Water Challenges And Bore Hole Fundraising Project

It still surprising and amazing for a group of people to suffer high time in this era for portable water.

Tolon District has been faced with these challenges for a period over 27 years. Water as we all know is a necessity and everyone is entitled to have access to safe and secure water for drinking, cooking, bathing washing and for other activities.

Indeed, there are some good news on the borehole fundraising project which is as a result of the current water crises/ challenges. Having hailed from Tolon and served as the NASPA president in the District, I forwarded this pressing issue to our Network which is Do IT RIGHT AFRICA INITIATIVE (DIRAi) GHANA CHAPTER.

As members of Do It Right Africa Initiative, our mission is to liberate Africa from self-inflicted poverty through genuine reorientation, socio-economic empowerment and development projects.

I led a delegation of members of DIRAI to Tolon District for our own assessment on the issue at hand and where the organization can fit in by a way of contributing our quota in making sure that the communities get access to safe and secure water for their various purposes. As part of the activities we undertake as DIRAi, is the promotion of strategic community problem solving- self-help approach.

It is all about making an impact in society and changing the lives of others. It is not a one man’s fight, let’s join our forces together. We believe in teamwork and collaboration and with our collective efforts we can make the needed impact in our communities. Much gratitude to my team members for the good work done.”

Mr Abdul Rahaman Dignity also call on NGO’s companies, dignitaries, politicians and other bodies to support this all important cause.
