Atwima-Mponua assembly donates medical equipment to clinic

Tanodumase (Ash), Dec 10, GNA - The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly on Friday donated some medical equipment and a mower valued at 50 million cedis to the Anglican Clinic at Tanodumase. The equipment included microscope manual and electric, gas fridge, theatre bed, delivery sets, sphgmamomanometer and automatic pipette.

Rev Canon Francis Dwira, Kumasi Anglican Diocesan Treasurer, said the clinic constructed by the church for the community and its surrounding towns and villages was inaugurated in 1999. He noted that the desire of the assembly to make the donation to the clinic was to support the church in running the clinic. Rev Canon Dwira, who is also the parish priest of the Saint Peter's Anglican Church at Asawase in Kumasi, urged the government to support the church to run the clinic.

He advised the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them receive quality health care delivery.

Mr Richard Atta Yawson, an engineer at the district assembly, said the assembly considered the health needs of the people as important and hence the donation to the clinic.

He appealed to the staff at the clinic to make judicious use of the equipment to improve the health status of the people. Miss Grace Kyeremeh, midwife in-charge of the clinic who received the equipment, thanked the assembly and appealed to individuals and organizations to emulate the example.
