Correspondence from Volta Region:
One of Ghana’s finest and uniquely built resorts which serve as an attraction site in the Volta Region has been closed down.
The Keta Lagoon Resort which is located in the Keta Municipality is built in the Keta lagoon entirely with Africa fan palm tree with detached roofing all over.
The resort which has several well furnished rooms for hire by patrons, a large drinking bar, conference hall, and a restaurant as its features attracts thousands of patrons during festive activities.
Many believed the resort was closed down by authorities because of the death of a Togolese national who together with others fell into the lagoon after the boat they were cruising in was overturned by a strong wind.
Others survived the incident because they wore a life jacket but unfortunately, the Togolese died because he had no life jacket on.
However, the security man on post at the resort rubbished the claims to GhanaWeb's Volta Regional correspondent.
He said the place is closed down for renovation exercises due to some weak materials which need to be changed and not because of the death of the Togolese national.
A tour conducted around the place shows that the place needs serious renovation as some of the woods used in the construction are visibly weak and could put patrons’ life at risk if not replaced.
“This place will be expanded with many new and wonderful infrastructures after the planned renovation of the existing infrastructures is executed”, the security man was quoted as saying.
