Zoomlion Ghana Limited has begun a 5-day fumigation exercise of Senior High Schools in the Eastern Region against bedbugs.

The exercise is part of a nationwide exercise in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service to fumigate all schools in the country.

The 114 SHSs included both private and public to ensure a conducive environment for students when school reopens.

Mrs Emma Akyea- Boakye, Corporate Communications Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited said the focus was on the control of bedbugs that had invaded the schools in the country.

She explained that all classrooms, dormitories, dining and assembly halls, administration blocks, and other spaces of each school would be fumigated.

Mrs. Benedicta Foli, Headmistress of Pope John SHS and junior seminary, was grateful for the gesture adding that the effects of bedbugs on the students would be minimised.

She also noted that the fumigation exercise would allay fears of parents and guardians of the COVID-19 pandemic when it was time for school to reopen.
