Mr Siabi told the Ghana News Agency that the CWSA developed the emergency response strategy to reach out to rural communities in line with the President's directives in the fight against the spread of the novel COVID-19.

“Our offices will engage communities through local radio stations and community information centers, to provide the right information on proper handwashing with soap and how to avoid contracting the COVID-19," he added.

He stated that the CWSA would also provide assistance to communities to construct simple local handwashing facilities at the household level, such as tippy taps and provide handwashing facilities, soap and hand sanitizers to community clinics and chips compounds adding.

"Our Community Relations Officers will mount intensive public education in rural communities on proper handwashing and prevention of COVID-19".

The CWSA is a member of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development's Public Health Emergency Committee across the country to provide assistance to communities.

The CWSA CEO therefore entreated communities to avoid communal handwashing and sharing of hand towels, keep the approved social distance and constantly wash their hands with soap under running water.
