Cletus Avoka donates towards fight against Coronavirus in Zebilla

Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Zebilla, Cletus Apul Avoka, has made a donation of items in his constituency to help fight against the spread of the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the area.

He donated items including, ‘Veronica Buckets’ withstands, bottles of liquid soap, disposable gloves, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and rubber basins.

Mr. Avoka first made his donation to the Bawku West District health directorate where he presented the items to the district health authority.

He then proceeded to the Zebilla main lorry station, Zebilla Market square and the meat sellers, where he interacted with them and handed his donation to leadership of the various group.

Presenting the items, Mr. Avoka commended the District Health Directorate for working assiduously to meet the health demands of the people amidst the challenges. He urged them to continue to offer selfless services to the people and assured his commitment to complement government’s efforts in the
fight against the disease.

Mr. Avoka admonished the people to adhere to the precautionary guidelines given by the experts and Former President, John Dramani Mahama to avoid the deadly disease in the district.

He made a passionate call to all politicians to put aside their political affiliations and fight virus together, stating that “the virus does not know any political colours”.

The Districts Disease Control Officer, George Ambuli, who received the items on behalf of the District Director of Health Service, thanked the former MP for his kind gesture. He assured that the donation would be used for the intended purpose.

Mr. Ambuli appealed to other well-meaning citizens of the area to support their efforts aimed at fighting the spread of the pandemic.

In a related development, the former MP has paid for airtime at Zebilla based Zebs FM for the airing of locally produced jingles on the Coronavirus to intensify the education and awareness of the disease.
