Kofi Adda donates GHC40 000 to support fight against Coronavirus

Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda, Ghana’s Aviation Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, has supported the Kasena-Nankana municipal health directorate with an amount of GHC40,000.

The money is to assist efforts of the municipality to develop and strengthen its preparedness to contain the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the area.

In a letter signed by the Minister and sighted by GhanaWeb’s Senyalah Castro, Mr. Adda authorized the release of the funds to the health authorities and proposed the formation of a management team to oversee the execution of measures to ensure the area is prepared against the pandemic.

The team includes officials from the War Memorial Hospital, the Public Health Outfit of the directorate, the Navrongo Health Research Centre, UTAS and a representative of the MP.

The letter said the funds will be used for the acquisition of equipment including Surgical Fluid Proof Masks, Gloves, Gowns, Veronica Buckets and thermometers.

Other items that would be purchased include liquid soaps, Tissue papers and Alcohol-based hand sanitizers and other disinfectants.

Part of funds will also be catered for the preparation of a potential quarantine centre, the organization of public educative activities and the orientation of the team of professionals.

Speaking in an interview when contacted, the MP said the donation was part of his contribution to curtail the disease.

He assured to give more support until the disease is controlled.

Mr. Adda urged his constituents to take seriously the precautionary measures given by the Ghana Health Service and the World Health Organization (WHO) to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.

He additionally urged them to strictly adhere to the directives by the President Akufo Addo to ensure the disease does not find its way to the area.

Mr. Adda encouraged the people to practice proper handwashing, maintain good personal hygiene and maintain clean surroundings at all time to guard them against the spread.
