Re-demarcate boundaries - Oblogo Chief appeals

Oblogo (GAR), Sept 8, GNA - The Chief of Oblogo in the Ga District, Nii Kwaku Bibini III, has appealed to the authorities, especially the Land Commission to re-demarcate the boundaries between Oblogo, Weija and Gbawe to ensure lasting peace in the area.

He said although the three towns have smoked the "peace pipe" witnessed by the MP for the area, Miss Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, some youth from Gbawe had defied the order and were encroaching on Oblogo lands, which was the cause of the dispute.

Nii Bibini, who was speaking to the GNA in an interview on Wednesday, called on the authorities to invite the Chiefs of the three areas to present their documents for verification to avert the re-occurrence of the dispute.

He stated that the government had not paid compensation for the Oblogo stool lands acquired for the then GIHOC for the construction of a workers quarters at McCarthy Hills but have sold them to some people without informing the original land owners.

He urged the Ministry of Works and Housing to take immediate steps to hand over the buildings to the Oblogo Stool or pay compensation since GIHOC was now defunct. 08 Sept 05
