Some determined residents of Tongo-Tsita, a poverty-stricken and deprived community in the Tongo-Kaira electoral area of South Dayi constituency in the Volta Region have pleaded with their MP, Hon. Rockson Etse Dafeamekpor to at least provide them with a kindergarten school to enable children have access to education.

Their plea came after the honorable Member of Parliament visited the visibly deprived community of fewer than one thousand people who are mostly into farming.

The residents who spoke exclusively to GhanaWeb's Volta region correspondent said, some children walk for more than ten kilometers before attending classes in another community outside the Tongo-Kaira electoral area.

Hon. Dafeamekpor, however, assured the residents that he would do everything possible to ensure the community gets a school so as to enable the children to continue their education.

He also took time to caution the residents about the COVID-19 pandemic and what they can do in order to not get the disease.

Parents who could not any longer afford to see the daily struggle their children have to go through to get to school are forced to stop their wards from attending the school.

Also, some children who could no longer bear the daily tussle have ceased going to school and as a result, child illiteracy is on the rise in the community.

Assemblyman for the electoral area also explained to Ghanaweb.com that the MP has already acquired plots of land in the community and that works to establish a school will begin in no time.

He also showered praises on the opposition lawmaker for his care and support for the people in his electoral area.
