Opeikuma (C/R), July 25, GNA - The Chief of Awutu-Opeikuma, near Kasoa in the Central Region, Nai Amokwandoh, has agreed to release about 100 acres of land for the provision of development projects for Kasoa. The facilities include police station, hospital, ministerial block to house various departments and agencies, banking institutions and schools.
Part of the land would also be used to house sawmills in the fast-developing commercial town.
Nai Amonkwandoh made the offer when the District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr Solomon Kwarshie Abbam-Quaye and some senior officers of the assembly called on the chief and his elders last Friday. He expressed his gratitude to the DCE for the respect and honor he had accorded him and his elders and pledged to co-operate to ensure the success of the proposed projects.
The Chief appealed to the District Assembly and the Government to provide the people with good drinking water, electricity and schools. Addressing the people, Mr Abbam-Quaye said land had become scarce at Kasoa, adding that, the community needed a bigger Police Station because of the intended elevation of the station to status of a division and a hospital because of the population growth of the town. He said the removal of sawmills to a new place formed part of a long-term face-lift the assembly had initiated for the Town. Mr Abbam-Quaye said since Kasoa was the gateway to the Central and Western Regions from Accra every effort must be made to give the community with befitting amenities.
He thanked Nai Amonkwandoh and his elders for their determination to assist the assembly and promised to ensure the provision of water, educational facilities and electricity.
