Fisherfolk, fishmongers and the good people of Ga Mashie hailed, praised and danced clad in T. Shirts of Hon. Lord Commey as they celebrate their annual Kpaa Shimo festival in Accra.

Though Dr. Lord Oblitey Commey was not in Ghana to participate in the celebration, fisherfolk, lovers and friends of Lord Commey trooped to the grounds in his T. Shirts amidst dancing and singing “he is Lord, he is Lord….to mark the occasion.

Kpaa Shimo is a festival of the Ga Mashie people dedicated to fisherfolks. It’s an annual event which is celebrated with pomp and pageantry and one of the major highlights is the composition and singing of special songs in honour of distinguished personalities in the catchment area.

The town-folks were disappointed for not seeing their “messiah” at the function because he travelled out of the country for national assignment.

When sharpnewsgh.com caught up with some of the fisher-folks who were “Hon. Lord Commey is our hero, our hero, our hero, Nii Okai said “the whole of Ga Mashie love’s Hon. Lord Commey because he is generous, affable and above all changing the lives of the youth positively so we will always be with him,” he said.

According to Nii Addo, “Hon. Lord is our everything, he is helping us with alternative futures and making the Youth productive. He is doing a lot, he is not contesting as MP but Ga Mashie is proud of him, he nodded.

The thread that passed through all the people we spoke to have a positive account of how Hon. Lord in his own small way is helping the community and people without prejudice, creed or political affiliation.

Octogenarian Naa Lamley about 87-years of age minced no words when he described Lord Commey as a legend and a great son of Ga Mashie due to his focus to ensure peace, unity and development in the area. The people love him and I love his humility. May God give him a bigger position so he does more for our kith and Kin and others as he is doing now.

Lord Commey is the director of Operations at the Presidency, and according to the Youth in Ga Mashie where he hails from,” Hon. Lord is one of a kind and we hold him highly and dearly.

The fisherfolk confirmed that when they contacted Hon. Lord Commey, he expressed reasons why he wasn’t at the function as due to national responsibilities. He further wished them blessings and also assured them of being part of the event next year, God willing.
