Mpohor NPP in disarray after district assembly elections

A comedy of errors and power play are disintegrating the New Patriotic Party in the Mpohor constituency as party leaders engage in the scramble for positions in the assembly.

In fierce encounters and exchange of banters, Isaac Awotwe, the constituency secretary insisted that he should be a government appointment in the new assembly, whilst Kofi Appiah, NPP constituency chairman for Mpohor, has also intensified his search for a slot as a government appointee, in addition to several school feeding contracts in the district.

Miss. Yaa Yakyi, who is also the constituency women organizer and former assemblywoman for Adansi, has also joined the bandwagon and has requested to be a government appointee, adding to the state of disarray and position-grabbing in the constituency.

Timothy Cobbinah, senior brother of Ignatius Asaah Mensah, Mpohor DCE, was not left out as he has been promised to be a government appointee, as party work had remained static due to these unnecessary quests for power, cronyism, greed, and nepotism.

A press release issued by the Wassa Youth Forum serialized instances of power play and gross disregard to the electoral fortunes of the NPP in the Mpohor district.

The Forum added that it does not know the source of the power of these local party leaders, which glaringly showcases how these individuals think about their personal interests over that of their political party.

Developmental programs have been pushed to the background, the Forum alleged, calling on the appointing authority to bring these shameful politicians to order.

"The development agenda of our district has been truncated, and this idea of grabbing positions in the assembly has taken center stage", the Forum stated, accusing NPP leadership in the constituency for failing the people.

The President and NPP National leadership should act immediately to bring an end to this mad rush for positions in the Mpohor constituency, the Forum concluded.
