The Nzema Manle Rural Bank Limited in the Western Region has donated table top fridges to four Assemblies in the region towards organisation of the 2019 National Farmers' Day celebration.

The gesture will afford the beneficiary Assemblies an opportunity to celebrate hardworking farmers with the prizes for their contribution towards the development of this country.

The Bank donated eight tabletop 'Skyworth' fridges to the four beneficiary Municipal and District Assemblies.

The beneficiary Assemblies are Ellembelle District, Jomoro Municipality, Nzema East Municipality and Aowin District.

Ho in the Volta Region is expected to host the National Farmers' Day celebration on Friday, December 6, 2019.

The 35th edition of the Farmers' Day celebration is under the theme, "Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture towards Agribusiness Development".

Making the presentation at the forecourt of the Bank's headquarters at Nzema Aiyinasi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Samuel Quayson disclosed the rationale behind the gesture.

He said they did the donation in line with their Corporate Social Responsibility to support the National Farmers' Day celebration.

"This donation is done by Nzema Manle Rural Bank Limited, because, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we want to support the National Farmers'Day celebration", he said.

"We are doing this because of the love and support we have for the farmers", he disclosed.

He said the bank has committed itself to support farmers to work harder for the country and therefore pledged to continue to support the farmers with reasonable prizes through the Assemblies.

Receiving the items on behalf of the four Assemblies, the Nzema East Municipal Agriculture Director, Mr. Blay Kenyah, lauded the Board and Management of the Bank for the kind gesture.

He said the gesture would go a long way to make this year's celebration a colourful one.

"We are very happy about Nzema Manle Rural Bank Limited for the support", he acknowledged.

He promised to give the items to the farmers on Friday. "All that the Bank has given to us, we are going to give them to the farmers and we are very excited".

He, therefore seized the opportunity to appeal to other institutions within the four Assemblies to emulate the shining example of Nzema Manle Rural Bank Limited and support the celebration.

"... Sometimes to get resources to organise Farmers'Day celebration has become very difficult because nowadays Farmers'Day celebrations are organised by the Assemblies, so if institutions like Rural Banks within our Districts, if they can help us to organise Farmers'Day celebration, it will go a long way to give the farmers befitting awards they deserve and will motivate them to work harder for this country", he concluded.
