Jomoro tops 2019 BECE results in Science and Mathematics in Western Region

The Jomoro Municipality in the Western Region has emerged top of 2019 the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) in Science and Mathematics.

The ranking was conducted by Executives of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) spearheaded by the Youth Bridge Foundation and sponsored by Tullow Oil Ghana Limited.

STEM is an educational programme aimed at encouraging students and the youth to pursue Science, Technology and Mathematics related courses in all endeavours.

Six Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts including Jomoro Municipality, Ellembelle District, Nzema East Municipality, Ahanta West Municipality, Shama District and Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Region made up of twenty-one schools were selected to benefit from this Programme and out of which Jomoro tthe Municipality secured first position based on the analysis.

Three (3) Schools in Jomoro Municipality that won the heart of the Directorate after the analysis were; Half Assini Catholic JHS, Effasu M/A JHS and Ezinlibo Catholic JHS.

The Coordinator of STEM for Jomoro Municipality, Ms Lousa Arde in her reaction said she was highly overwhelmed with the performance.

According to her, the outcome of the analysis was on point. She congratulated the Science and Mathematics teachers and headteachers of the concerned schools for their hard work that has led to this success in the Municipality and also took the platform to task other Schools to learn from the shining example.

In a congratulatory message, she said ''On behalf of the Jomoro Education Directorate and in my capacity as the Coordinator, I would like to congratulate our dedicated teachers, heads and our cherished students and all who contributed in diverse ways in making this victory a reality".

The Jomoro Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Effah who was overexcited and could not hide his joy for recording this outstanding performance in these sensitive subject areas in his first term of office in the Municipality commended the students.

''Congratulations to your heads and teachers for your selfless dedication and commitment in training of the students that has led to the image of the municipality projected and also making us proud'', he acknowledged.

He as well, seized the opportunity to encourage the rest of the schools to do their best to also move up for the betterment of the Municipality.
