Nzema East MCE donates uniforms, shoes to schools on 'My first day at school'

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nzema East Municipality in the Western Region, Hon. Frank Okpenyen popularly known as Franko, has donated school uniforms and shoes to some Basic Schools in the area.

The items are meant to facilitate effective teaching and learning among pupils in the beneficiary schools.

The donation comes in handy to motivate the school children to attend school regularly and also learn hard.

The MCE made the donation as a kind gesture during 'My First Day At School' on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 in some selected schools within the municipality.

The beneficiary schools were; Dadwen M/A Basic School, Nyamebekyere (32) M/A Basic School, Gwira Bokro M/A Basic School and Gwira Aiyinasi M/A Basic School.

In all, three hundred and twenty (320) school children benefited from the gesture.

In addition to the school uniforms and shoes, pencils, exercise books, 10 boxes of chalk was donated to each school, accompanied by erasers, crayons.

They were all donated to the beneficiary schools to aid them in teaching and learning.



He also motivated them with soft drinks, choco cookies and biscuits.

Since the assumption of office, the MCE together with the Member of Parliament have donated over 2,000 school shoes (sandals) to some deprived schools in the area as a source of motivation. Some teaching and learning materials such as desk have also been supplied to some selected schools.

Speaking to the excited school children, the MCE, Hon. Frank Okpenyen reiterated government's commitment to ensuring quality education for all children of school going age.

He thanked the teachers for trying their best to impart knowledge in the children to become great leaders and urged them to do more.



He has therefore advised the pupils to take their studies seriously since they were the future leaders of the country.

He also advised them to refrain from deviant behaviours that would affect their future and respect their parents and also be God-fearing.

The MCE who has education at his heart, encouraged the children to be disciplined in order to become great personalities in the society like journalists, teachers, MPs, MCEs, doctors, engineers, Presidents, pastors among others.

He pleaded with the pupils to make good use of the items to achieve their intended purpose.

He advised the pupils to take their studies seriously since they were primarily the future leaders of the country.

Hon. Okpenyen again urged teachers in the beneficiary schools to take good care of the future leaders of the Municipality.

He pledged the Assembly's readiness to commit more resources in providing facilities to ensure quality education for children for the sake of our nation's development.

He promised to donate some items to other school children and disclosed that the gesture was not going to be a nine-day wonder but would be done every term.



The MCE seized the opportunity to inspire authorities in the schools and promised to liaise with the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Catherine Afeku to improve educational facilities and performance of pupils in the area.

He thanked the MP for the unflinching support given to the Assembly to improve educational facilities and performance of pupils in the area.

He disclosed that the MP contributed towards these items given to the school children.

Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Education Director, the Planning and Statistics Officer, Mr. Anthony Ackah expressed gratitude to the MCE for the kind gesture.

He said this donation was best of its kind, adding that the MCE deserved commendation from all.

He also said the donation by the MCE had come at the right time adding, that it would motivate the children to be regular in school.

He advised parents of these communities to invest resources in their children's education noting, that education open all doors and also advised them to teach their kids to be respectful and obedient.

He used the occasion to appeal to the MCE and the government to support the Education Directorate by providing infrastructure for some of the schools in the municipality lacking them.

He therefore called on the pupils to pray always for the MCE and MP to do more.

He disclosed that the Municipality was doing well in terms of education since the assumption of office by the MCE and his MP.

Meanwhile some of the pupils who spoke to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent Daniel Kaku, also expressed their gratitude to the MCE and promised him they would learn hard in order to become future leaders of this country and also prayed hard for the MCE to live long.

The MCE was accompanied by some staff of the Assembly, some staff of the Municipal Education Directorate, some NPP Constituency Executive Members, the media among others.
