The Hohoe Zongo community in the Volta Region, Wednesday, marked this year's Eid-ul-Fitr with the enskinment of a new Galaadima-(regent) for the community.

The enskinment took place at the Hohoe Central Mosque after prayers before a breakfast was held at the Hohoe-Adabraka English-Arabic Basic School Park, led by Alhaji Mohammed Awudu, the deputy Chief Imam.

Sarki Tajudin Mairiga, the Zongo Chief of Hohoe, asked Muslims to avoid violence and live peacefully with each other.

"You do not say because Ramadan has ended, we should go back to our old bad ways. It is important that we observe the spirituality we have gained and continue to exhibit the good things we have learnt from now till the next Ramadan," he said.

The newly enskinned Galaadima, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Ibrahim Gariba, an officer at the Police CID Headquarters in Accra, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that his priority was to foster peace and unity among the people for rapid growth.

Mr Gariba promised to be a good example for the youth and champion the development of the Zongo.

The enskinment was attended by sub chiefs and opinion leaders in the community.
