Dzodze Hospital appeals for provision of an ambulance

Dzodze, (V/R), Feb. 12, GNA - Authorities at the Saint Anthony's Catholic Hospital at Dzodze in the Ketu District have made an urgent appeal to the Council of Ewe Citizens in North America to provide the Hospital with an ambulance to facilitate its emergency operations. The Hospital Administrator, Mr Christian Akoto-Brown made the appeal when Togbi Korku Yador, Organising Secretary of the Council handed over a refurbished X-ray department partly financed by the Council at a cost of 2,000 dollars to accommodate an x-ray machine it donated to the Hospital.

Mr Akoto-Brown said as the only hospital that specialises in post-polio orthopaedic surgery in the southern sector of the country, it required an ambulance to convey patients to Nsawam for post surgery rehabilitation.

He said the absence of an ambulance at the Hospital was militating against its effective operations in its area of specialisation and health delivery in general.

Mr Akoto-Brown also appealed to the Council to arrange exchange programmes with some hospitals in North America where the hospital staff could undergo refresher courses while specialists from those hospitals could visit and share their expertise.

Togbi Yador said the Council, which is made up of Ewes from Togo, Ghana and Benin, was formed to provide financial and material assistance to students and institutions in the three countries.
