A mob at Huhunya in the Eastern Region on Saturday dawn killed and set ablaze a suspected armed robber who was part of a gang that was escaping attack from a community they went to rob, having gunned down two irate youth pursuing them.

The robber was tied and burnt in the boot of the car used for the robbery operation together with his gang who managed to escape.

The bodies of the two deceased residents- Jerry Tettehfio and Aaron Padi Attarmah have been deposited at the Eastern Regional Hospital at the Morgue at Koforidua.

The charred body of the suspected robber who was driving the car carrying the robbery gang with registration number GW 4151-19 was later extricated from the car and deposited at the morgue.

The incident scene attracted hundreds of residents and passersby in the morning.

Information gathered indicates the robbery gang numbering about four went to steal goats and sheep from Tenguanya a farming community near Klo Agogo, a farming community in the area and were being chased by some youth in the community.

Unable to apprehend the robbers who were speeding, information was sent to the youth in Huhunya around 1:30 am that the armed robbers were escaping toward the area hence mounted roadblock at the Customs barrier.

The robbers attempted to run over the barricade but failed hence in a rambo-style returned. While they fled they were chased by two of the irate youth who were on a motorbike but the robbers shot them dead.

Sensing danger three of the robbers managed to escape into the bush but the driver was apprehended by the mob, brutalized and tied him at the car boot and set the Car ablaze. – Kojo Ansah
