The Ellembelle District Director of Education, Mr Peter Blay Ackah has appealed to corporate organisations and philanthropists to help provide office accommodation for the district education directorate.

He said the office which was carved out of the Nzema district some 11 years ago was housed in a two-bedroom structure that did not make office work comfortable.

Mr Ackah who made the appeal at the sidelines of the commissioning of a kindergarten block for the Kisan-Sanzule D/A school in the Ellembelle district said the office which started with only four members of staff now had more than 64 including; Circuit Supervisors.

He said the inadequate office accommodation was greatly affecting the smooth operations of the education directorate since many of the staff did not have places to sit and work.

Mr Ackah said the district currently had a total of 283 basic schools made up of 83 public and 26 private kindergartens, 81 public and 26 private primary schools, with 55 public and 17 private Junior high secondary schools. He said the district also had five Senior high schools and it was imperative for the directorate to be well accommodated so as to effectively monitor and manage the schools.

Mr Kwesi Bonzoh, District Chief Executive said his outfit was fully aware of the plight of the education directorate and that the Assembly was insolvent thereby making it difficult to put up a benefiting accommodation for the education directorate.

He said the District Assembly in collaboration with the education directorate sent passionate appeals to corporate organisations like Tullow Ghana limited and other philanthropists to come to the aid of district.

He underscored the important role education played in the development of a nation and asked the citizens of Ellembelle both home and abroad to contribute towards the development of district.
