Seven vie for Upper west's slot on Council of State

Wa, Feb. 1, GNA - A retired army officer, three traditional rulers and three retired public servants have filed their nominations to contest for the Upper West region's slot on the Council of State.

Mr Alexander Poku-Akubia, deputy Upper West Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Wa on Tuesday, gave their names as Brigadier-General Godfrey Naapie Guomil, 65, and Mrs. Celestine Bayor, 66, a retired Director of the Department of Community Development.

Others are Edwin Cherea Naa Kunfirimuni, 67, a retired Chief Environmental Health Officer, Kuoro Kuri-Buktie Limann, 61, Paramount Chief of the Gwollu Traditional Area, Kuoro Kyige Mumuni Dimbie II, Paramount Chief of Galibaga Traditional Area, Ninia Doctawie, 54, Paramount Chief of Zini Traditional Area and Mr. Paschal Baylon Dere, 46, an agriculturist.

The Council of State elections would be held at all the regional capitals on February 8.
