St. Stephen's SHS hit by rainstorm, three sustain minor injuries

Student of the St. Stephen's Presbyterian Senior High School (STEPSS) in the Asiakwa in the East Akyem Municipality in the Eastern Region has been destroyed by rainstorm.

The storm stuck the classroom turned girls dormitories, ripping off the roof injuring three students and are being sent to the hospital to receive treatment.

Aside the dormitories, the canteen, classrooms and a notice board which was currently erected.

The National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO) are yet to provide aid materials to the school.

Speaking to the press, the headmaster of the School Samuel Asante Anarfi said the school is already in distress prior to the storm which struck the school on Tuesday April 23 2019 and has called on the government to help the school with the needed structure as the number of the students in the school increases with the introduction of the Free SHS.

He said, “the disaster has affected academic exercise. Now, we are struggling to find a place for the students to sleep. Yesterday for instance, they slept in a classroom. We urgently need packets of roofing sheets to re-roof the affected buildings. Exams time is also near.”
