The Teshie Traditional Council are up in arms with persons parading themselves as the paramount chief of the area and are wondering why the Chieftaincy minister’s white paper which outlines a roadmap for the successful installation of a chief has been hijacked by the president of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

The council he said has however warned any person parading himself as the paramount chief of the area to desist from such act.

At a press conference in Accra, the spokesperson for the Teshie Traditional Council, Nii Nortey Tuaka II said the traditional council for that matter the Manklaro have not installed any chief yet.

“Nii Nortey Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, the paramount chief of Osu and also the President of the Greater Accra House of Chiefs is holding Teshie to ransom” he alleged.

“The regional house of chiefs produced a report in 2016 which spelt out clearly who should be a Chief, Mankralo and Shikitele , of Teshie, it may therefore interest you to know that the Osu Mantse was the chairman of the committee which produced that report” he stated.

According to him, a few months ago a letter from the Osu Mantse came to withdraw the aspect of the report that concerned the Mankralo and that the position did not allow for the installation of the person that was recommended in the report as chief of Teshie.

He told the media that eight out 10 persons who voted on the document approved it for it to be used but for some strange reasons, the president of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has not released it since November last year.

“We want to state here now that what we should call a final report was finished in November 2018 and copies went out into the public.

“It is unfortunate that as we speak today, the Osu Mantse, who happens to be the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs now has refused to officially release the report to us as Teshie people” Nii Tuaka stated.

Nii Tuaka II alleged that the Osu Mantse wants the pages that contain the names of recommended candidates removed and to replace with names nobody knows where he got them from.

He however called on the president to intervene since it is his case that Teshie would be given a ministerial role provided they are able to install a chief
