Shai Osudou marks Independence Day parade in grandeur

Neatly dressed students and members of voluntary organisations in well-rehearsed gesticulations marched past to herald the 62nd Independent Day Anniversary parade at the GHANATTA School Park at Dodowa, the district capital of the Shai Osudoku District.

The contingents made up of students and cadet units from the various circuits of the Capital including; the Association of market Women, health personnel, assembly members and fire service marched past the dais with Brass Band providing spectacular rendition of patriotic songs suited for such occasions.

Honourable Daniel Akuffo, Shai Osudoku District Chief Executive, who read the 62nd Anniversary address on behalf of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said accelerated development had been anchored on peace, unity and hardwork and urged the Ghanaian community to gird their loins for those attributes to succeed.

He urged the general public to avoid tendencies that would sow seeds of discord and disunity as the maintenance of the peace was more expensive.

The DCE called for paradigm shift and attitudinal change towards state resource management, land, vegetation, water bodies and positioning its human capital and resources to actualise the needed development aspirations.

He said government was poised in renewing the professional mandate of the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to acceptable standards towards securing the territorial sovereignty of the country.

Chairman for the occasion, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).Professor Stephen Adai in his speech lauded the education proficiency of Shai Osudoku. He said the district has through its educational infrastructures produced prominent students and citizens.

The octogenarian, a former Rector of the Ghana Institute Of Management And Public Administration, himself a native of the district while reveling in the education proficiency of Shai Osudoku was confident that the future of the Greater Accra Region lies in Dodowa.

Also present at the ceremony was Hon Linda Akweley Ocloo, Member of Parliament for shai osudoku, the District Director of Education, Heads of Security Agencies and representatives of political parties and religious groups.

For the first time in the annals of the Independence Day Anniversary celebrations, the national parade was taken to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale by the President Akufo-Addo to honour the chiefs and people of the area for giving peace a chance in the age-long Dagbon chieftaincy issue.

The 62nd Independence Anniversary is on the theme, “Celebrating Peace and Unity.”

Parades were also held simultaneously across all the regional and district capitals across the country. President Akuffo Addo took the national salute and delivered a speech of solidarity to Ghanaians.
